Re: For sale...
I had one of those for 3 years - nothing can touch it for a mix of fun, speed, practicality and price. However they like a drink so buy with eyes open. Mine was exactly the same as that except in the nicer Winning Blue. Loved every minute and it was very reliable too.

Can't beat the Japanese for reliability - even better than German made cars.

Well, I replaced the RX-8 with a German car with more power, far more torque, RWD, quicker 0-60, faster top speed and yet up to 20% better on fuel economy. And it has been absolutely bulletproof in reliability - the Mazda had a couple of small issues but nothing serious. The replacement has had NOTHING go wrong, not a single thing, not even a tiny little niggle... in three years and 35k miles. BMW 130i FTW!

Re: For sale...
Don't get me wrong , I love German cars (had a S500L not that long ago)- I really fancy a Audi TT -the first generation- and an Audi RS6 one of the older ones great sounding V8's In terms of technology they are at the forefront of the industry and probably always have been. But with reliability - owner surveys after survey , it's always a Japanese car that is on top with the less problems.
Interestingly or not recently I thought I'd buy a car that I could hack up and down the motorway to work - one that would be reliable , cheap to run -not bothered about weather the kids get the inside dirty or not . It has a BMW engine in it but is not a BMW , what did I buy ?

Ok - to guess is not one of my strength
And enumerating all possible cars powered by a BMW engine could take a long time
So - i give up

Then it must be a diesel car - that is the only Rover 75 with an original BMW engine.
The petrol cars have engines built by Rover - except the V8 (has a Ford Mustang engine)
