WANTED - Carbon engine cover
Hi all
Since I had my fling with a rabbit. Makes it sound rude. Unfortunately I flung the bike down the road.
Big Big thanks to Suzi for letting my buy her oversized American indicators and very slightly scuffed crash bung. Still owe you more than you were willing to accept so your drinks are on me for a limited time (i've seen you drink!!!) at the next ride out.
Anyway back to the point.......I need a new RHS cover (alternator).
I put the current ones on after buying them a few years ago but can't find my receipt nor can I find anyone on the Internet selling them.
Anyone know where I can get them and any advice for getting the old one off (which is stuck on with some kind of black specialist glue)????
Cheers

Re: WANTED - Carbon engine cover
BOING
Hi All
I'm wondering / hoping you might know if I can buy an alternator carbon cover for the thundercat
I bought a set of covers a while back (after a search on the internet) but can't find them again and I can't find ANYONE selling them anywhere in the world after countless searches on google ' yzf600r thundercat carbon cover' or similar searches.
A picture of the worn cover is here [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] after I had my RABBIT incident.
Although I managed to patch her up again [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It wore through and wore off some of the metal underneath. I suppose it and the crash bungs kept my bike ridable and pretty much in one piece.
If you can help me source one I'll buy you a pint at the next rideout.
Cheers

Hi Fi
I emailed them earlier (before you posted.....But I'll honour your pint if I can get them there)
Unfortunately their website says "Due to a refurbishment, AMEL has currently stopped the manufacture of Motorbike Parts. Sorry for any inconvenience."
If I don't hear back I'll phone them.
Cheers

Have you tried these peeps Ross?? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
They have the most amazing second hand parts warehouse and they ship too. I got my rear shock from there.
Good Luck finding the part you need.

Re: WANTED - Carbon engine cover
I think Toni is 1st past the post.
Pint goes to Toni for his find on Ebay in germany.
I'll post up link once I've received and fitted.
Thanks for all the replies.
Any ideas on how best to get the old one off. It's stuck on with special black glue (silicone base to 250•c)
cheers

Re: WANTED - Carbon engine cover
Excellent!
Glad to see the site's fostering 'international' self help
Good luck with removing 'the black stuff', better luck with sending the pint through the post!
Mind you sending beer to Germany's a bit like exporting 'coal to Newcastle' or 'whinos to Govan'
Well, Toni you did say you had improved your English since joining the site - let's see if we can improve your prejudices too. All done with the aim of improving international understanding!
Chris
PS Found this article. To summarise: 'RayPanic has glue on his powdercoated trim ring; has tried carving it down with a razor knife and needs to go further. ' Might not be what you're looking for? I'd advise wearing your pink rubber gloves!

You don't have to do that
I am a German - i know what it is like to live with prejudices
quintessentially German
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
PS: I have to admit that i don't like beer that much - i prefer Captain Morgan or a Scotch Whisky - how un-german
