Wee Mac .... Get In Ma Belly.
Hello peeps.
Looking for some inspiration for Wee Mac dining.
Our “staples” Of Friday night pizza and Sunday night roasts is probably what we’ll stick with but we need some inspiration for Saturday night dining and drinking.
We had chilli and stuffed chicken last year so something new this year.
Steve has volunteered to be head chef for Saturday’s Michellin Star supper.
We need everyone to muck in at some point even if it is “just” chopping / tidying up / helping with the dishes etc.
Let me know any special dietary requirements and also what you want to drink while we are there.
I’ll be getting enough to get us started of
Cider
Lager
Beer
Red wine
Dark Rum
Diet Coke.
What have I missed that you drink.
Please don’t suggest anything other that what you Will drink while you are there.
And we can top up while we are there.
Cheers
Rosco

Re: Wee Mac .... Get In Ma Belly.
How about bobotie?
A simple curry?
A hearty stew? With dumplings?
Massive plate of nachos? Or DIY tortilla wraps?
I’m going for easy-cook, large crowd options.
Cranachan for dessert.

That's a surprise! Some may not even know what that is, but I know a few who do - well my attempt at it from scratch, rather than a few Royco packets, first meal for the group in Cape Town - the home of Bobotie (baa-boo-ah-tea)- and a splodge of Mrs Balls may have raised some eyebrows. It was quite far removed from Cordon Bleu cooking, attempting it with no electricity!
Fortunately for all concerned, it's not me as head Michelin Chef.
The last two items on the drinks trolley suits me. Which probably renders me suspect chopping, but am there to be involved.
Afraid no ideas on a Michelin level meal. To me the brand is on my bike - not that I'd consider to eat it
Not been much help - sorry

I love bobotie - I learned how to cook it at a “curries of the world” cooking experience, along with jungle curry and some others. I still have some of each of the spice mixes we prepared from scratch for each curry.

Re: Wee Mac .... Get In Ma Belly.
Ross I really cant stress this enough, cider, namely STRONGBOW original cider, NOT dark fruit, not the new Rosè, not rhubarb and custard flavour..... just plain ole traditional original strongbow cider. I dont mind Thatchers, I dont mind Aspal, I'm okay with Henry Westons. As long as it's not dark, mixed fruit etc I'm happy. Please strongbow original though or there will be an unhappy cook on the premises.
Food wise I've never done Bobotie, or Bunny Chow for that matter and whilst I could probably produce a passable version I wouldn't particularly want to attempt an authentic one without trying an authentic one, if you get what I mean. Plus I wouldn't want to insult Steve with a poor attempt. Also I find I can cook things I like to eat better than things I'm not keen on and the sweet and savoury thing concerns me.
Ideas wise I like the DIY wrap thing, I could throw a big bowl of chicken/beef fajita mix in the middle with associated salsa, guacamole, picked chillies and sauces etc. Some spanish style albondigas (meatballs), patatas Bravas, mixed veg, padron peppers, nachos and a bastardised paella. Bit of a tapas/Texmex hybrid if you will??
If there are any of the "meat and 2 veg" brigade amongst us a simpler cottage pie, veg and a good gravy could be offered??
Just my thoughts but I will try to accommodate the wishes of the masses.

Sadly I won’t be there, I was just offering some food ideas - my contribution to the weekend if you will.
