5th January Ride from Wantage
I've been persuaded to lead a ride for my friends on the Yamaha Diversion forum - their annual 'January Jolly'.
As it usually only gets single figure attendance I thought I would open it up to anyone here who might be interested in shaking off a few New Year cobwebs.
The start point is WantageMarket Place, OX12 8AW, probably leaving at 10:00, heading south-west into Wiltshire, and returning some time before dark. More details to follow.

Re: 5th January Ride from Wantage
Despite the deafening silence (!?) I'll repeat the invitation, as the run is this Sunday.
Note that I've moved the meeting point to the Beacon car park in Wantage (OX12 9BX), as there's another run going from the Market Place starting at the same time. Coffee etc. available from Costa, less than 100 yards away.
If you would like to join us, come along in good time for a briefing prior to a 10 am departure.
Hoping to see one or two of you, and a very Happy New Year to all.

Happy New Year Bob, 'fraid a tad to far for me to join in though. I hope it's a good ride for all who attend.

Re: 5th January Ride from Wantage
Hi Bob, this post completely eluded me to be honest. I only check the forum a couple of times a week these days and must have missed it.
Wantage is a tad too far for me at this time of year...I know...fair weather rider and all that! I do get out but tend to stick very local
Have you seen the WoW ride in 'Something for the Weekend'? Be great to have you along
Hope the rideout goes well, lovely area to ride
Happy New Year!

Sorry for the silence. Despite this being just up the road from me I can’t do Sundays over the rugby season as my son plays or trains every Sunday.

I did spot the WoW, thanks. And now, thanks to Vistaprint, I have a calendar for 2020 (old technology for me*) so I've made a note of it. I'll do my best to get along - hopefully see you then.
Cheers - Bob
*Paper calendars can't spy on you, can they? Who, paranoid, me??? And anyway they have nice piccies - [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: 5th January Ride from Wantage
I'm happy to report that this run today was a success, and reasonably well attended for the time of year.
If anyone might be interested in me repeating it when it's a bit warmer and the days are longer (and there's less mud around!) let me know. But although the route starts (just) in Oxfordshire, it could hardly be called the Cotswolds run - more like the Wiltshire Wobble.

Re: 5th January Ride from Wantage
Glad to hear the ride was a success.
If there's interest here for a re-run I might be able to make it. The shorter days do curtail my rides to fairly short runs this time of year, however the bike gets absolutely caked in mud and debris even with a much shorter ride.
I'm not paranoid, but have for quite a few years made my own calendar, it features some pics from the previous years' trips. I think the first one, I used a two hole punch and two key ring 'loops'
About 6 years ago I bought a 'starter kit' the punches, metal binder rings and the hooks - it'll keep me going for a good 15-20 years!
