Since photobucket got greedy & want £££ to carry on using the image hosting im wondering what people recommend to use.

Im looking for ease of use, not crammed with adverts & more importantly free.

Thanks.

I've used Flickr for many years, however I am thinking they will be going the same way soon as Yahoo, their owner, has been sold to a US carrier.

I've started using Google Photo, still getting my head around it. It's pretty good, but it hasn't knocked my socks off and wanting to move off Flickr. Whilst it is free, there is a storage limit however if you upload and let Google store it in their format (smaller file size than original) then there is no limit.
I'm sure all services do the same thing, but Google make it abundantly obvious they are scanning your pictures. After uploading pics I get msg's saying they have stylised some of them, what is good though is if I have taken panorama stills, it will auto stitch them.

See this the bottom half of this post: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (below the Z1000SX image)

It seems that Servimg does still work if you upload the pictures through the forum reply editor.
This saves having to upload them through a 3rd party before copying the URL's for your posts. left thumb up

-edit- I don't know if it'll last though, Servimg might track the amount of hits an image has before taking it down as per recent complaints, but Forumotion claim they pay for the service.

Servimg has always been the defacto img hoster used by forumotion from the very begining. Forum users (inc yours truly) just chose more often than not to use another img host for their image posts.
As you point out, forumotion have an arrangement with servimg (always have as i said), and claim nothing will change as far as their forums are concerned. Time will tell.

Cheers Oldcat. Toff

I didn't know that hosting from inside here still worked. Embarassed
(Some sites have a limit, but paying Servimg is a good idea.) left thumb up

I think there are two issues here, my understanding of Paul's original post was where is a good place to put all his online photos not only for use on this site.

As we have found out using Google Photo isn't good to use as a repository to link to posts here, traditionally I've linked from Fickre but as been mentioned about Servimg, I have tended to use that more often.
