Hi all

My name is Keith I am from Lincolnshire I have just got the Cat as a winter bike, I also have a 2003 fazer1000, have a couple of problems with the Cat at the moment as it has been stood for a large part of the last 10 years, goes fine when opened up but on tick over it is a little lumpy I suspect slow running jets are gummed up, and the other problem is the rocker cover gasket is leaking, mileage is 23000.

Hi Keith, welcome.  Does sound like the jets need cleaning.

Shouldn't be any reason for it to leak unless its been battered about when taken off or just not fitted properly.

Just to be on the safe side check the cover and head for warpage when you have the cover off.

Hey & welcome. The idle issue is most likely blocked idle jets. The rocker cover gaskets don't really leak unless it's been off a few times or been damaged while removed, if the air filter has been cleaned & re oiled a bit of excess oil can drip out of the air box water drain holes when it gets hot in use. It drips onto the rocker cover & looks as though the gasket is weeping.

Paul.

Well guys thanks to you all for the welcome, I have sorted the leaking rocker cover gasket, had the carbs ultrasonically cleaned and balanced, but I still have a problem with the revs hanging around 3000 for a few seconds very disconcerting when you are approaching a bend and going down the box, I hate having to use the brakes to slow down.

Welcome to the site Keith.
There are a few of us in Lincolnshire. I'm up nr Brigg, but work in Gainsborough so not far away. We should have a local meet sometime.
Glad to hear you're getting the bike sorted. You'll be in time for the Lincolnshire rideout! Maybe you could join us.
Cheers, Chris
