Yes or No (please be yes took ages) lol
First topic message reminder :
So finally got started on the paint job for the white and black kitty. Have only sprayed the seat hump as would like opinion on colour. The red stripe in the middle I was thinking of spraying black. It is all sprayed no stickers. I know there is a slight flaw on one of the gold stripes but that will just be a touch up when i sprayed the middle stripe. Its not finished still have gold fleck lacquer to go over the top but thought would get opions before lol.

Unfortunatly due to recent bad weather havent sprayed anything else as only have my Man Tent (gazeebo with sides) and was wayyyy to cold to spray so will have to wait till the weather warms up to strip and spray but I will update as soon as poss.

Ok, so with the decent weather have finally made a start on the spare tank I have. Sanded down to bare metal and applied so far one coat of etch primer. One more coat then onto colour.

Ok so red now sprayed
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Then the gold sprayed. Looks a little blue due to reflection from my Man Tent
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Then I peeled the tape off to reveal the red underneath.

Just need to mask off again and spray the black to finish it off. Does need a little touch up here and there but will post pics of the finished tank before lacquer. Have decided to drop the gold metal flake totally and mix in a bit of the gold metallic into the black at a ratio of 10-1 so will see how that looks. Should give it a subtle gold glimmer. Fingers crossed lol.

Re: Yes or No (please be yes took ages) lol
Ok, tank sprayed but not lacquered yet. There are no stickers all lines and words are sprayed, masked and unmasked.
What do you think? Have I made the Red, Gold and Black work?
I mixed in a bit of gold metallic to the black and does have a subtle fleck in the sun, which is nice lol.

Went the whole hog and primed and sprayed JUST black the underside of the tank as well, no point in doing half a job lol.

Have two genuine gold tuning fork logos to go on the tank as well. The type you get on the newer yamaha's.
Honest opinion please guys and gals.

Towards the front of the tank, after the A on the right hand side and after the Y on the left side?

Tank lacquered, 3 coats, might give it an extra coat or two for an extra deep shine, not sure if you can make out the subtle gold glimmer in the sun or not but defo stands out more with the lacquer.

Maybe a satin black petrol cap to finish it off?
Or something like this...

Id stick with an alloy colored cap I recko, Or whatever colour your frame is. It's like matching you belt with your shoes.... just looks better haha
Re: Yes or No (please be yes took ages) lol
You did ask for honest opinions white one and after a few tweaks I take my comments back fella it looks fantastic well done can't wait to see it on the bike.

OK guys and gals honest opinion please. Getting rid of red cap bolts and swapping for gold but have to wait for them, apart from that it is finished.

Re: Yes or No (please be yes took ages) lol
Tank looks amazing, have you tried the rest of the bike yet? I'm interested to see what the front looks like with them stripes?
Re: Yes or No (please be yes took ages) lol
Tank was a spare, just spraying the front and rear guards, air intake pipe covers and the two covers that go under where the wing mirrors are. Then booking few weeks off work to strip down, send frame and swingarm off to be powdercoated and finish spraying the rest of the bike. Will keep posting pics as I move on with it. Mr France yes I'm not sure about the red centre either but the black handle was to sit inline.e with the centre stile to sort of bring it together
