My annual hello ; )
Alright, thought I'd do my annual 'Hi how you doing' thread.
I came to an important realisation this week. I don't really 'DIG' my bike which must be why I'm never on it.
I got that BlackBird last year, hardly been on it. I like it, it's a great bike, it does what is expected of it but I'm just not bothered about actually using it. It doesn't float my boat or excite me in any way.
I realised this on Tuesday night, I have bought my girlfriend a CBR400RR because she want's to do her DAS and this would be a great bit of 'encouragement' for her to get it done. Also a bit selfish on my behalf as the BabyBlade is what started the whole bike thing for me on holiday years ago. Any way, I checked ot over, nice bike took her to see it, she fell in love and now it's in my garage. :whoop:
On the way to pick it up I was like a child at christmas, just like I was when I went to get my cat, and just how I was when I went to get my Blade, then it dawned on me, I NEVER REALLY felt like that about the BlackBird.
I have lent the lackBird to a mate whose SV650 gave up the ghost because all he has transport wise is the SV and I have two cars so it seemed like the right thing to do. I keep telling him it's his as long as he needs it and if he wanted/needed it from now until easter, for example, it's not a problem.
SAY WHAT NOW??!!!?!?!!?!
I'd have been pestereing him on the hour every hour to see if the SV was sorted if I lent him the Cat or the Blade. So now I'm pondering what to do about it?
I have dug the Cat out from the corner of my damp garage and started brushing all the fur and rust off it. Prognosis is much better than I originally thought, it's pretty much all just a light covering and a brushing over with a wire brush should see it right. I think I need new calipers all around and that's one area where I don't really want to take chance so I went for the plunge and spend a little shy of £200 for new stainless downpipes as the originals have been eaten away by the rust big time so now I am fully committed to getting the cat on the road. Get it running, get it tested, taxed and insured THEN make it pretty again.
So sorry, you can look forward to many questions from me again.

Re: My annual hello ; )
Nice to hear from you Stretch.
The CAT is where it's at mate. Good luck on the restoration. She'll be worth it in the end.
Get a picture of Big Kev on the baby blade please......Oh go on!
Fingers crossed for your misses getting her DAS and getting on the blade soon. I'm sure you'll manage to resist the temptation of riding it
I've been swithering to change bike but other bills and plans have leapfrogged that decision. The CAT is the bike for me for some time to come yet I think....It is a brilliant bike (when they are working)
p.s My mech is going to be spot welding my front sprocket just shortly (without frazzling the CDI I hope) due to worn thread on the drive-shaft.......so while they are brilliant they are only brilliant when they are working)
Cheers
