What have I done? Empty What have I done?

Post  billyw Sun Jun 01 2014, 18:16

So after a few years of trying to get Karen back on as pillion (following scaring her witless with poor clutch control not long after passing my test) I finally managed to get her back on a couple of weeks ago for a very short run out.

Skip forward to this weekend and it appears I have unleashed her hidden biker. 100 mile run out yesterday was followed today by a supposedly quick shopping trip to Carlisle and back. On the way back she signals for me to pull over and tells me that we should keep on going as she doesn't want to get off.

She is now talking of me getting a new bike so we can go touring together, and when is the next ride-out, even wearing biker gear around the house!

Cheers
Billy

That's excellent news Billy and I knew she would love it. We will look forward to catching up with you both on a rideout soon hopefully.

We both did our tests at the beginning of April (Gill and I), and both passed. We both got bikes (although Gilll's isn't as nice as it's not a cat Wink ).

Only problem I have now is keeping up with her.... Embarassed

Well done Karen & Billy.

Pam was very apprehensive at first, I used to ride quite differently when she was on the back, well that was till a 'mate' took her pillion on his 'Cat so she could try out the non slip seat cover. They were gone about 10 mins, her scarf was all over the place and she looked like she'd been through the bush backwards* on their return  Shocked

A few weeks later she admitted that she rather liked going faster  Wink

* She thought they were just going around the car park and hadn't done up her jacket fully

Scarves and rotating machinery is a bad combination, like ropes and water, or children and 70's TV entertainers. Smile

Good on ya Billy. The Cat is still a good bike for touring on even 2 up. It's finding time/ baby sitters and daughter time that screws up us for the long weekend tour.

Will Karen be joining us on a ride out maybe next year when you both have got a few more trust worthy miles together.

Yay we'll soon have another biker chick on the forum....

I decided to pass my test in 2008 just because I wanted too (something to do with a soft spot for men in leathers I seem to remember...), . I pillioned when I first was learning as we only had the one bike when I was married to my ex but I soon got cheesed off and wanted to ride a big bike like the big boys!

So this is my 6th season of riding and now have a big bike! I love being in control of my own bike and love the amazing mates I've met through it.

soon gets addictive, we made the mistake of taking my now 14 year old out on the back of owens vfr this weekend....its been 2 years since I last took her round the block, and her only misgiving was that the speed limits mean she cant go faster ( he may have had her up to a smidge over 80 at one point )....
think weve created a monster !!!

Fantastic news Billy, it's a hobby that's definately more fun when both parties are into it.
I'm very lucky to say that I get to ride my bike with my best friend & that means reading each other's minds & riding styles to 'stay safe'.... Knowing what your riding buddy is likely to do very much assists making progress & Ellie has to her credit (as many on here will back me up on) become one of the best riders I've had the pleasure of taking to the road with.
You could say I'm a lucky guy..... Cue the smutty jokes  shit happens
