Unusual power!
Ok, so out this morning, very hungover (but legal). Set off, bike was pre-warmed, nailed it in first gear and !?*#!! me, power wheelie! My cats never done that before, I did stick premium fuel in for the first time accidentally the day before, but surely that stuff doesn't make any difference? Are cats supposed to power wheelie? Mines done 3500 miles from new, got a straight-through yoshi RS3 pipe on, but nothing else. I know the front lifts a little normally when really pushed, but this was a monstrous wheelie, and I really wasn't even trying (see hangover for proof...). Wheeeeee!

Re: Unusual power!
I can't comment on the power as I've been on 33bhp since owning the bike :(
But only 3500 miles is a crime

Sounds to me like the hangover caused a major lapse of concentration

Re: Unusual power!
I'm not looking for a telling off here, I blew a 0.02 on a Dräger breathalyser, so not being irresponsible, just felt minging. My point was, I can't usually make it power wheelie when I provoke it, does premium really make any difference at all, I've never thought there was, I just though it was harder to ignite (octane rating) and therefore only of use with high compression engines. Thoughts?

Re: Unusual power!
I used to run mine on higher octane stuff when I knew it was going to be laid up for a bit (it's cleaner and doesn't leave so much gungey deposit in the carbs). But I can't say I ever noticed any difference in power output over ordinary 95.

Re: Unusual power!
I think we all try to prevent our bikes from 'power wheelying' on purpose or not lol.
Re: Unusual power!
Please don't think I'm and antisocial ass who rides around towns and busy places like a squid, far from it. I wear a black and yellow jacket, ride with my lights on and am courteous. But can anyone here say they don't enjoy a bit of a back road blast occasionally when the roads are empty and the suns out?

Re: Unusual power!
Roads don't have to be empty ...do you think you could have possibly let the clutch out a little late? ...nonetheless enjoy it

Re: Unusual power!
never managed a power wheelie on my cat before, but then again I ain't small, but saying that i did accidentally power wheelie a friends Ducati monster 1000s, which I didn't intend to do but just happened giving it a lot of beans!
I don't think anyone is going to think of you as an anti social rider for pulling one wheelie!

Re: Unusual power!
I've nearly done it a few times with a pillion, but not on my lonesome.
...Are you getting enough to eat?
Well done anyway.
I treat the bike to some premium and rag it a bit to give it a clean out on occasion, it does feel a bit nippier but it is a bit expensive to run every day.
The Shell V-Power diesel is good stuff too.
I accidentally filled a tank with it before a run up to Inverness and back, and the car drove and overtook like an absolute dream.

I should hope not.....
The Mighty Thundercat can and will power wheelie with a fist full in first but like most sports bikes it does it VERY quickly. I wouldn't recommend it
Can't say I've ever noticed huge differences between 95 & 98 RON fuels but sometimes I like to treat the bike to a posh fill up every now and then.

Re: Unusual power!
Pft, I wish! You mustn't be watching when I f**k one right up and clatter my pods into the tank as the front returns to earth abruptly.
That's all in the past now Dave, the RC8 frightens me too much!
In all seriousness, a few folk will remember Taste of Lincs a few years back. Or 'When Good Wheelies Go Bad'. Go easy...

Re: Unusual power!
Ohhhhh yes, I've only done 100 miles but it's brutal! It's got waaay too much poke for me to be mucking about like that.
Might try the FJR though, be worth it to see Terry's face
Off topic, what's you plans for heading up to Wee Mac?
Give me a shout if you fancy meeting enroute.

Re: Unusual power!
that would be epic to see the fjr wheelied!
curently I'm doing home to selkirk in one hit, would be great to meet up with folks enroute if possible, i'd being going up the M6 to the lakes, but could meet at kirkby lonsdale or somewhere similar maybe, I could always come across your way too, but would depend on timings for me getting there from oxfordshire way.
Are you on the FJR or RC8 for Weemac?

Re: Unusual power!
Not sure the RC8 will be run in by then. Depends on Katie too, she's talking about taking the car. Think she gets a bit fed up on the back after a couple of hours. Just likes coming for the good food, good wine and...the company?!...
