Quiet
You can't tell the weather is getting a bit crap and everyone is starting to put their toys away (hats off to you commuters ).
I think it's quiet since we're not 100% sure yet and there's a possibility of getting out again before parking the two wheelers up, or getting around to those minor maintenance jobs we've been putting off.
Here's a tip: If it's dry for an hour or so, take it for a clean at least.
I constantly forget to do this and have fungus growing out of the dead bugs on the front fairing by Christmas.

Re: Quiet
Or . . . , could be that some of the main protagonists are away, on the pop, at the Surf n Turf weekend
Must admit though, normally by now someone has usually posted some comment about happenings from the ride-out.

Re: Quiet
Possibly.
I've just noticed that Jake Gyllenhaal was Billy Crystal's son in City Slickers.
He must love those cowboy movies.

Re: Quiet
The toys are in the car park, no chance of putting them away for winter yet, 1250 miles in 3 weeks & counting

Re: Quiet
Thought I'd join in as it's still quiet on the forum front.
How we all doing?
My bikes all sorted ready for the winter, I decided to be a commuter and sell my car, rather, it's a bit expensive running between the 2 lol and my other car is for her indoors and school runs.
My usual workplace is literally 2 minutes away but got a secondment to another branch 10 miles away so get to enjoy frankensteen everyday.
My first proper winter riding this year so got prepared for it with regards to waterproofing and heating.
No such thing as bad weather, just bad preparation. oh maybe snow and ice is an issue but ill use the push bike. That'll be fun im sure
Hope the guys enjoyed/ing surf n turf

Re: Quiet
My favourite time to ride is a cold, wet and dark morning... weird I know
It has been a good summer at least! Hopefully will be turning up to Bob's ride out next month so will be good to see some faces again before it starts to get really quiet!

I'm currently sat in a tent in the middle of Wales finishing my 'weekend away wiv da boy'.
It's been awesome and done about 600 miles this weekend and shown a couple of my Manc mates Wales roads.

Unfortunately, mine won't be coming out until the beginning of winter... Could be an interesting time to learn on Looking forward to having a more comfortable commuter though

Re: Quiet
ordered a shed today so the cat will be getting put to bed for winter shortly. getting my commuter scooter back on the road, but hoping for a final ride or 2 before weather turns. snake pass, cat and fiddle, a523, a53 and a5004 long hill would do as a last ride of the summer.

Treat the bike to some ACF50, then salt won't be quite a worrySnowcat wrote: At least until the salt comes out

I saw an advert for Sliced Sheds in Viz a couple of months ago.prime wrote:ordered a shed today ..
According to one testimonial, they're "the best thing since sliced bread".
Re: Quiet
Controversial as it may be, I'm always happy to tuck mine away for the winter, hate the bad weather, the rain and the cold.
Usually ready for a break from it when Ocotober arrives.

Re: Quiet
You can't really blame people for it, especially if you have the choice of a car, I've got to be honest, riding in snow scares the crap out of me and I won't do it, and I only live 7.5 miles from work so getting kitted up in waterproofs and having to change a couple of times a day just isn't worth it to go to work and backellie wrote:Controversial as it may be, I'm always happy to tuck mine away for the winter, hate the bad weather, the rain and the cold.

Re: Quiet
With the weather up here you could also bet on not being able to get home on the bike a few times during winter, then you're stuck for getting to work the next morning.
Re: Quiet
What's all this about bad weather? I went to Mallory on Sunday to support a mate who was racing - he got a trophy and I got sunburn!

Re: Quiet
It certainly is easy to understand why people don't want to use the bike in winter, I guess I must have something wrong with me as I have the choice of the car but for some reason I just prefer the freedom 2 wheels gives you (especially when there's road works). I seem to have mastered taking my gear off so quickly I hardly notice the effort... Of course when the ice hits (snow is ok) then I have to retreat (stay in bed and 'work' from home)
