Riding to ToL
Hullo Hullo,
Looking at planning my route to and from ToL and wondered if anyone had any roads leading to Woodhall Spa recommendations.
I'll be leaving from Banbury oxfordshire and probably going towards Northampton, market harborough, corby etc. Really want to avoid the M1 If I can helps it!
Any input or advice would be great thanks!
Ta Muchly
Dave

Re: Riding to ToL
Depending on how long you want to take, I'd consider Banbury Lane to Northampton via Cannons Ashby. A508 to Market Harborough, B6047 to Melton Mowbray via The Langtons and Tilton on the Hill, A607 to Grantham, on to Sleaford and then Woodhall Spa.
I'm near Northampton and would ride over with you but I'm not leaving until Saturday morning. Could perhaps ride back in convoy if you like?

Re: Riding to ToL
Just watch the cameras on the A508 either side of Maidwell. They had been switched off for a few years but I think they're back in use now.
Basically any road into or out of Melton Mowbray is worth riding.
Any tips on riding roads round your way? I can't believe how many blanket 50's seem to have cropped up round there. ie A361 virtually all the way from Daventry, and A423 all the way from Southam. Oh, and also virtually every road in the entire Cotswolds....

Re: Riding to ToL
yeah its a bit shitty down this way..... welsh lane (B4525) is pretty good, sometimes theres no lorries on it...or tractors...
the Charlbury TT is pretty good fun, no speed cameras down that way, theres some good roads going cross country from banbury to stratford and back to banbury. I also do a loop on the 361 to daventry then round to southam or the fosse way, not all mega speeds I admit but some nice riding.
best thing though is probably the charlbury TT. Chipping norton - charlbury - shipston - chippy. road from charlbury to shipston is a cracker and supposedly one of the best roads/loops around here

LOL Pete!
Depends on the babysitter/what time Nick gets home/and patients behave themselves and don't be too poorly I'm afraid, but should be away for 3
