Well done, that old oil looks good
If you can, take a photocopy of your Halfords till slip - in a few years time if you need to take a tool back you'll find your original till slip would have faded.
You did tighten your chain after changing the oil? Looks a bit loose from the pic.

The chain? Yeah looks nice and clean. I got my new fancy chain cleaning brush to mine a few weeks ago, made a right mess of the brush and then I go and have the chain changed a week later (the cleaning revealed it had a good life but was worn out)
If you meant the oil, yeah it's well used. You use your bike for commuting so lots of cold starts - I'd look at changing the new oil in maybe 3 000 miles time.

Re: Tommy did first service... (all by myself)
Nice one.
Your next big challenge is getting the nose cone back on...it's a bit of a faff.
The rubber air intake is the bit that causes the problem, but I'm sure I read in here somewhere that someone had great success by using washing up liquid to get it nice and slippery.
I could be wrong though..

Well done old boy, it took a long time getting there but I'm sure the oodles of good advise (and some not always so positive, myself included ) you've took the bull by the horns and dived in.
Well chuffed for you, the pride and pleasure you get from doing a job like that yourself are immeasurable, you should be really proud.
Now when can I drop my bike off for an oil change

Re: Tommy did first service... (all by myself)
You need to take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir push the pots back into the calipers before you fit the pads (making sure you don't burst the rubber seals).
(Hopefully you'll have figured this out by now, given your post is 4 hours old)

Re: Tommy did first service... (all by myself)
omg like all the time i fuc... hate my self. i dont know how but i lost some scraw for fairing and crack fairing in some places. i put a charger plug (car lighter) next to clocks but the wires are to short cant get them to battery.
i am not surprise they charge so much to do all that.
1 thing i know i am not the service person, i am rubbish to do it.
i dont know how to drive bike (crash 3 times) BUT I LOVE THEM
can't repair them, can't drive them, can't clean them, but i can't imagine life without the bike

Re: Tommy did first service... (all by myself)
Part of the learning process is making the occasional f**k up.
If I were you though, I'd check the bolts that hold those calipers on before you ride it again and once again a week later.
