Ring Speak
First topic message reminder :
Sun 7th to Sat 13th September 2014
Now cancelled
Here's the hotel we're booked into: Hotel Forsthaus
And here some advertising for the Ring to give you an idea of what it's all about
Some general Ring info, especially a Beginners Guide, can be found on this site: http://www.nurburgring.org.uk
And some info about the Eifel area is available here: http://www.eifel.de
And for another taster I just found this video... it's a promo video for a hotel near the Ring but from about 1 min onwards it's mostly about biking in the region. Worth a watch if you're still on the fence

Dirt Bike Dave wrote:Thomas i take it the Forsthaus is booked from the night of the 7th until the night of the 13th?? 7 nights? or is the 13th check out day - 6 nights??
The booking is from 7th to 13th, arrive Sunday 7th and depart Saturday 13th. So that's 6 nights.
Had to go with those dates as the hotel was fully booked until the 7th.
Hope that works out ok for you then

Re: Ring Speak
Bad news... just had a message from Terry (Oldcat) and sadly he will not be able to make the trip due to health issues. Terry, so sorry to hear it. You and Bea will be sorely missed
On the up side that means there are 2 beds available for anyone who's still on the fence! Any takers?
That actually reminds me we could start thinking about how to split the rooms up...
We have 2x 4-bed "blockhouses", 2x doubles, 2x singles
I thought Steve + Pam would take a double and I would take a single due to my horrific snoring problem.
Which basically leaves the rest for everyone else to fight over
Any preferences?

Sadly Misuse, Abuse & Injuries sustained to various body parts in a previous career and what seems like another lifetime ago has come back and bitten me in the hinter regions.BlueZed wrote:Bad news... just had a message from Terry (0ldcat) and sadly he will not be able to make the trip due to health issues.
Not only has this put a stop to any long distance (insert any European), trips such as this, it's also putting a halt on the UK ones in the Something for the Weekend (SftW) section too (stop sighing with relief at the back there . . . you, yes you there, . . . stop looking around) . . .
In fact, biking in it's current format (i.e. machine type), if not at all, is under serious review too
Re: Ring Speak
Shame you have to drop out terry, gutted you wont be coming.
Is it the riding position thats a problem? My wrists ache after a while, back too. going to be getting bar risers before summer and BC comes and im only 33.

Re: Ring Speak
It's a whole raft of things to boring to go into here.
But a recent and particularly nasty relapse, and a run of poor health and a bad fall resulting in a rotator cuff tear and a broken left thumb (the latter quite convincingly shattered), both requiring surgery to repair, has made me see sense. Anyway, I still have at lest three months of physiotherapy yet before I can even think of starting strengthening rehab.
Upshot is, I'd probably make the port of exit then be FUBAR for the next couple of days, that or so hi on prescription meds to dull the pain , it'd be the wrong side of legal, and that my friend is not a wise or sensible thing to do . . . Nor is it right to endanger other road users or myself by stepping/riding needlessly into harms way.
I know you'll all have a fantastic time and of that I'm envious and can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures .

Sorry to hear this Tel.
Going to stop breaking bits please
You're a bit like my bike although it is debatable if you are as dirty.
Fingers crossed you get very well very soon.
If had had loads of extra holidays magic from somewhere then I'd be there.....need a miracle.
Cheers

Re: Ring Speak
Apologies, not been on the forum for a month, so just trying to catch up.
Really sorry to hear about your health problems, Tel. I hope the recovery process goes as smoothly as possible.
Thomas, as to rooms, being an old bloke who usually needs to go walkies in the middle of the night, I'll happily take the other single, if it's not already spoken for.

It hasn't been claimed yet so I've put your name next to it on the Master List.
For the others... seeing as I haven't found anyone to take Oldcat's space I'll probably need to cancel the second double room. I'll give it until the week after Easter.
That would leave us with 2 blockhouses (4 people in each) which you can split up between you.
