Nowt to do with bikes........Santa has some Xbox360 questions
Hi all you serious xbox Gamers out there.........
Santa has been in touch with me to enquire about getting the right xbox for a very nearly 8 year old who claims to have been very good this year.
I’ve had a look here - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but can’t say I’m completely enlightened.
I’ve heard having a harddisk in the xbox is worthwhile for storing movies / music on and it helps games load faster (although it slows some games down ?!?)
What I think we want is an xbox 360 (not exactly sure what specific model / capacity) with Kinect. Games wanted are Minecraft and a Simpsons “Hit & Run” game too. Not sure exactly what we get / need extras wise (controllers , xbox live etc)?
Any advice on what might suit my needs and where I’d get the best deal would be much appreciated.
Any web links that explain it all?? or post up some advice direct.
Thanks in advance.
Ross

Don't know if I've answered my own question here ...... what about this one - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Comes with the following -
Contains Xbox 360 250GB console and Kinect sensor
Includes Dance Central 2, Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures and Star Wars Kinect
Also comes with 1 month Xbox Live gold card and £7.50 blinkbox credit when you spend £1 on blinkbox
I think it comes with ONE wireless controller too.

Did you feel a Call of Duty to highlight that Dan.
There is no Medal of Honor pointing out my mistooks.
Have I dropped my Halo trying to Kinect with the Kidz?
It's Forza boy not me honest.
This is a Far Cry from my normal posts so be gentle please as I've reached my Max Payne.
Stick that in your Pun pipe and smoke it ....... or Just Dance.

Re: Nowt to do with bikes........Santa has some Xbox360 questions
Rosco,
Beware the kinect thingy...you need a lot of space for it to work properly, bought my eldest boy 1 a couple of years ago but was a bit disappointed as he couldn't really use it in his bedroom to play games..think you need to be a good couple of metres away from it before it works properly..
Wireless controllers eat batteries too..
If you have any Q's let me know, my eldest is a bit of a wizz with Xboxes..

Re: Nowt to do with bikes........Santa has some Xbox360 questions
Hey Ross,
you want to try people like, amazon or play for bundle deals where you'll usually get the xbox, controllers and games thrown in.
Sainsburys regularly do some cracking deals on the games consoles, picked my new ps3 up from there for a steal.
if your getting wireless controllers, consider also getting some rechargeable batteries and the charging cable for the xbox
as for putting films on the hdd, you'll want to check the exact specs of the hdd's in the xbox's, 5400rpm and 7200rpm speeds hard drives should be fine, I am not sure if you can but you could upgrade the hard drive in the xbox to a bigger faster one.
thats what I did with my ps3 and then copied all my movies onto it so all i now need is the ps3 and a tv
buuuttt a word of warning, by removing the hard drive and replacing it generally voids any warranty on the console.
If I see any deals I will send you the links
hopefully some of that makes some sense to you!

Re: Nowt to do with bikes........Santa has some Xbox360 questions
Well I thought I'd never be able to contribute to a gaming thread, I wouldn't know a console even if I stood on one.
I'd recommend that you setup a DLNA (uPnP) server for your music and videos, you can do this on a laptop, have a 'server' somewhere or get an enabled NAS. It pains me to say it, but I think Microsoft did a semi decent job of DLNA on the Xbox.
I've read, like Tom says, that you can only store the purchased videos from XBox live.

I've got a shed load of NiMH batteries and charger so the batteries ain't a problem.......although losing the remotes might be
We've got a maximum 2.5 metres from TV to heels at the sofa so probably 2m between the players and kinect.
I've seen an adapter that is available "Nyko Zoom" that might help if that isn't enough space - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] although the 1st reply isn't a resounding endorsement.
I'm waiting for my private massage with TomCom so wish me luck.....

Serviio running on a PC or Laptop would do the job. (Works pretty well for most 'Smart' TV's as well)

Re: Nowt to do with bikes........Santa has some Xbox360 questions
Apart from being loaded with the cold I've been doing decathlon, busting moves on the dance floor, racing F1 and being a Jedi and a skylander.
It is pretty impressive compared to our old Wii.
I take it you've been shooting lots of bad guys on your PS3.
Cheers
Ross.

Re: Nowt to do with bikes........Santa has some Xbox360 questions
My nephew got one (since his PS3 is running the cracked firmware) and I got pestered incessantly to play Black Ops.
I've been playing FPS since the 90's using keyboard& mouse and it was a big effort not to bounce the controller off the TV.
My speed and accuracy was so bad, it felt like I was playing it with my feet.
