Potential New Mistress (Thoughts)
Going to view this tomorrow with a view to putting in a cheeky offer. Can't test ride for a couple of weeks due to having an op on my hand but going to open potential negotiations if its as good in the flesh as it is in pictures.
Having already tested one my mate has offered to take this one out for me but as every bike is different I'd rather take it out myself. He will test ride it for me as we'll and his main job is to talk me out of it. If he can't thus could be my next bike
Thoughts please

Re: Potential New Mistress (Thoughts)
Had two of those after my two cats.
Mind blowing . . . in fact, if it hadn't of been for the old bod not being able to fold up on it any more it'd have been a keeper.
My view . . . the RRY (1999 - 2001) and the RR 02 - 03 (the model in pic above) were the best Blades.

Looks lovely - though I am a wee bit confused with the pic as the RR, Fireblade and honda logo all look really sharp however the rest of the bike is a wee bit out of focus?
Maybe just my suspicious mind (apologies to Elvis).
Cheers

Re: Potential New Mistress (Thoughts)
That's the general consensus Dave, tha last of the Baba blades and arguably the best and most compliant ever made, (not my words incidentally but the man himself has one.
The one I test rode was pretty special but I prefer the colour scheme on this one and I'm lead to believe the paint job is a variation of the mainstream and quite rare.
If its straight, right and still available when I'm fit to test it I'm having it.
I always ride safe and within my limits Ellie, it's the rest of em (and the road condition as John will testify) that I have to be wary of. I know it's a big jump to a very powerful machine but it'll only go as fast as my right hand. no puns I'm left handed !!

Don't worry - last time I saw Steve he was a bit out of focus too. I'm sure they'll blend in together just nice.
Good Luck with Plan (A / B) (delete as appropriate)
Keep us posted Steve.
Cheers

Re: Potential New Mistress (Thoughts)
Just a quick update went to view this yesterday though couldn't test ride it, not take mine for appraisal. The bike was awesome, the pictures actually don't do it justice, it's clean as a whistle and apart from damage to a crash bung and a couple of tiny abrasions on the fairing that you can barely see (think its been dropped) it looks brand new...... I want it!!
Unfortunately the dealer was unwilling to move a penny on the price even though it is priced considerably higher than others (and they aren't selling!!). Then to add insult to injury looked in his book and said he'll give me £1200, not a penny more no arguments!!!!!!
I was pretty upset to say the least, people who have seen my bike would I'm sure agree its in pretty decent condition and I found his attitude quite insulting. I get the impression from his attitude that the bike isn't for sale.
My plan now it to wait until my hand is fit enough to ride and take my bike with me to see if he'll reconsider, I'm sure he will, I was offered more for it on we buy any bike.com (I was upset enough to look when I got home)
Problem is even if he sees my bike and adjusts his valuation, I'm not sure I want to give him money, the guy was a tool.

Re: Potential New Mistress (Thoughts)
How olds your bike Steve? I would have though £1200 was about right?
Nick was offered less for his mint 'cat and that was against a brand new bike.
It's all fate, the right one will come along with patience.

Re: Potential New Mistress (Thoughts)
Buy in at trade price & sell at top book Steve, that's the way dealers work & like me you would get a better price selling privately.

Re: Potential New Mistress (Thoughts)
It's an 02 Ellie, I was offered £1500 a couple of weeks ago against an older, lower priced blade, I'd be happy with that and I know, based on others for sale with dealers he'll be looking to advertise it for £3k, 100% mark up in a recession, borderline greedy??
I've been in sales all my life and I know my margins have eroded of late. He's selling a sports bike on top of winter and Christmas, think he needs to learn about his market. When I go back ill be speaking to someone else anyway, I'll phone up and see which days aren't good for him and go in on a different day.
The guy I spoke to originally on the phone was a lot more pleasent and amenable

Re: Potential New Mistress (Thoughts)
Having ridden a 95, 03 and 07 Blades over the years, the 03 was my favourite. Go for it if you can strike a deal. Keep the cat till spring and you will get a better price privately...his trade offer is not that far off the mark at all sadly
