You are without doubt the most fussy person Tom! lol

For a couple of hundred quid more you can get a bike in good condition so not worth it! Will cost you a few hundred to repair.

Ditto. If the dealer is saying its tatty then walk away. Even he knows it's rough and he's selling it. You WILL get a nice bike for the money you have to spend. Just be patient Tomcom.

Tom. At the end of the day it's your money. If it was my money then I would be looking for a bargain not someone else's junk. If the advert says its tatty then usually that means a lot worse than my version of tatty. But go have a looksee and if you think it's worth it then go for it. If it was me then I wouldn't entertain it but it's not me so I'm just giving you my opinion. It might not be that bad but the advert is enough for me personally to give it a miss.

The problem is Tom it's only your opinion that counts. How YOU feel about the bike and if YOU are happy to pay the money for it. Yeah take a mate with you to view potentials who knows a bit about bikes but you can't expect us to comment on photos. As Dave said if a bike is advertised as tatty you can guarantee it'll be a piece of sh*t but if you're happy to pay the price and do the work then fair play. Everyone is different and I personally want something you can be proud of straight away that doesn't need any work doing, looks good, rides well, is mechanically sound value for money and I'm happy with it. And yes if I really want something I'll pay over the odds for it if I have to but that's personal to me. What's personal to you is different from me and the next person.

You keep putting pictures and links up of bikes you seen on eBay, gum tree, pisronheads or whatever but it's not for us to say what's best, it's you decision at the end of the day, no one else can choose your bike for you and you don't tend to listen to people's advice anyway. What happens if you pick a bike that someone on here liked the picture of and the back end falls off... It'll probably be our fault.

There are literally 1000's of bargains out there to be had and it seems nearly 3 weeks after this thread started, with a fist full of pound notes you should be riding round on your new bike.

Stop procrastinating, go with your heart, trust your instincts, pick a bike you're happy with, buy it, ride it and enjoy it.

This is just my opinion however. The comments and thoughts of the author aren't necessarily shared by the forum and it's organisers. Wink

To echo previous advice and some extra

First thing is do you like the look of the bike?

If you do but the fairings are the wrong colour but it's in decent shape forget about "I can spray it", unless you are someone with the proper kit which you are not my friend. You'll get upset and resent the bike if you ruin a perfectly good paint job because you you were impatient and didn't look or wait for one you did like the look of.

If you are buying something as a project or track bike then no problem, but you are not. So I would say in this case, if you don't like the look of it, forget it and carry on looking. However, the above bike looks alright (even if it is red)

DO NOT BUY IT WITHOUT SEEING IT
• Start it when the engine is cold
• Re-start it when the engine in warm
• Test ride around the block if you can (some people are funny about test rides and I can’t blame them)
• Have a walk around and look for any damage, chances are there will be scrapes, scratches and rust spots, but it’s not a new bike
• Check reg on text check
• Ask to see the V5, check the engine and frame numbers match, if not ask why. It could be a legit engine or frame swap following spill or engine troubles
• If you see the V5 and have the internet on your phone check out

To see previous MOT’s and advisories and failures for the vehicle

My word is law, and the law says:

- You want a Thundercat.... This is a Thundercat.
- It's red (but you can't have everything), if you like it in thundercat, no problem
- Ring the guy up and go see it.
- Does the bike seem ok? Does the engine start and goes through the gears ok?
- If yes then offer him £750 for it and settle somewhere in the middle
- You give him money deal
- You both sign the V5
- You ride bike home
- Start new thread showing us the bike
- We all Thumb great clink Clap :whoop:
- This thread dies Clap
