it would all depend on you as an individual though, as for someone older than you with a clean sheet the r6 and cat maybe the same price or have a marginal difference.

just use a few of those comparison sites, only takes 15 mins to do

I upgraded my 'cat to a 650 Daytona, and I pay about £5 a month more, it's 7 years newer also. If that helps Tom, I know it's a ball ache trawling through insurance quotes. Why don't you PM Littlecat? She swapped her cat for an R6, but like others have said, depends on circumstances, age, how long you've held your licence, the area you live etc.

someones FAULT tom, not fold.

And it doesnt matter, even if it was someone else's fault, if an insurance claim happens on yours or their insurance, you have claimed and no longer have NCB. Even non fault insurance claims will make your insurance more expensive. And if you try and not tell your insurance company, they can/will get out of any claim you try to make in future, if not just decide to cancel your policy when they find out.

If they cancel your policy, then you have to tell every other insurance company that also, which will make your insurance very VERY expensive!

I agree with most of what you have said there Dean except that if you have a claim on someone else's insurance you will keep your own NCB, It's correct that you must disclose this at renewal time & that the robbing gits will add a premium to your policy Steam Ears
Whilst on the subject its also been a bug bear of mine that NCB has to be built on car & bike policies independently yet a claim will render the NCB's on both vehicles.

As I said in a previous post someone crashed into my parked car in a car park while I was sat in it, completely none fault, when my wife came to renew her own insurance (I'm a named driver) she disclosed I'd had an accident which resulted in a claim and her insurance went up on the basis that I was more likely to have another incident because of this one.

I tell you insurance is a racket and regardless of wrong or right, omitting information from an application will land you in a lot of bother and any disclosure will increase insurance policies.

Last year we had a claim on our house insurance and when the renewal came the premium had reduced, when I phoned the broker to question this they had no knowledge of my claim (why would they?) but worryingly the renewal quote was from my existing insurer and they'd not included our claim in the quote process because it was a different department and they were not automatically made aware of it and withdrew their renewal offer.

What I'm getting at here Tom is your insurance broker will not know you've had 3 accidents in the last 2 yrs and your insurance company may not. Insurance is a minefield and putting a foot wrong can be a minefield.
