Hello from Poole
Hi all,
After a break of 15 years since I last owned two wheels. I have just put a desposit on the following Cat.
[img][/img]
She is a 97 on a P with only 18K miles, FSH and a lot of recipts to go with it. When I went and looked at it first time I noticed there was oil on the front tyre and it turns out the fork oil seal had gone on one side.
So I left it at that point to have a think about it. But decided that it was the right bike for me so went back the next day. When I got to the shop the bike was no where in site and I thought "crap" they have sold it. But it turns out they had the cat in the workshop and the forks are going to need a complete refurb as there is pitting on both forks (Shop owner not happy as the MOT was only done in late May and should have been picked up then). So hopefully that will be done this week and I can pick the bike up next Sat. Fingers crossed.
I have sorted Helmet and boots from my brother (GSXR750 owner) so just need to source a Jacket and trowsers for the first ride
With no NCD I thought £170 full comp is very resonable and very happy to pay that.
Regards,
Richard

Re: Hello from Poole
Hi and Welcome Richard,
Nice bike you have there, glad to hear the bike shop owner is sorting out the forks it seems.
£170 fully comp is a good price, I dream of insurance as cheap as that!
Hope you find the site useful, lots of good folk on here all very welcoming and full of useful knowledge and info
Dave

Thanks Dave,
I think the £170 is cause I am an old man now. 40 is just round the corner :-)
A few old mates have point out it might be a mid life problem....

Re: Hello from Poole
Dave,
Hopefully next at (04/08/12) if the forks get sorted in time.
Also the shop owner is going to put another MOT on it as well for my piece of mind.
Just have to have the insurance sorted by then.

coolbeans, you'll love the cat, a great torque laden motor, easy to use good brakes and handles its weight well I feel.

Re: Hello from Poole
Mechy thats what I hope is to have fun.
I work away most weeks so the Cat is a fun thing for now to get out and ride with my brother and a few mates that still have bikes.
A friend of mine is a sales manager at a Yamaha dealer and I took a Fazer 8 demo bike out last weekend and I got the bug again :-)

Hi Rich and nice bike, good price on the insurance, I'm paying a bit more than that but then again I had no NCB or experience, only passed my test November and straight onto my cat. Love it and I'm sure you'll love yours

Hi Rich and welcome.
Your not alone with the mid-life crises, you will find many a 40+ year old Cat owner on this site, though in my head i'm still mid twenties.

Hi Rich
Welcome aboard.
I think you'll get a pleasant surprise comparing it to the gsx600f.
15 years though. Still....worth the wait.
Security consultant......got two ideas in my head.
Are you a big guy with lots of tattoos and muscles or do you do fancy stuff with computers.....or have I just got it all wrong?
Enjoy the new wheels.
Cheers

Well your names down here now and you're allowed in.
Quite a few IT bods on here (self included).
The thundercat must attract them somehow.
