60mph........nope 40 - Anyone going to drink to that?
Light fuse and step back.....BBC link
Scotland is probably going to be lowering the drink / drive limit.
I like the idea of the self test breathalyser for being sure about the morning after if they are relatively cheap, small and re-usable. With France imposing a must have breathalyser these will no doubt become cheaper.
Definitely a danger of criminalising 'innocent' folks if the limit is so low that there is negligible effect. Having said that the obvious issue of having it too high that 'legal' folks are significantly affected is worse.

Re: 60mph........nope 40 - Anyone going to drink to that?
maybe they should invest in the roads so they can be used at the previously intended speed of 60?
round near me there are 2 roads one was a 40 and one a 60, both are in really good condition, with lovely smooth tarmac, and no polices cash machines.
now about 6 months ago these roads were changed to 50 and 30, and these cops there with speed cams there every other day, all in the name of safety......... apparently
Now I don't condone speeding (but yes we all do it) but next to these roads are roads that are in terrible condition but these are still 60mph roads and never any police down these roads.
To me it doesn't all add up....

SAFETY . . .
Funny thing that eh. In the 60's & 70's when cars really were just tin boxes, no seat belts, toughend glass windscreens, drum brakes, no child seats and metal dashboards . . . it was safe to travel at 60 or 70 mph.
Now cars have crumple zones, passenger reinforced cage areas, air bags everywhere, laminated glass, ABS brakes, not to mention tyres that are far superior in every way, seat belts, child seats etc. etc . . . Apparently we take our lives in our hands if we dare to go any faster than 50mph !!!
SAFETY . . . . . . . . . . . . . . THE DOGS DANGLIES is it safety
As for Alcohol limits . . . . 0% . . . . If you know you're driving the next day, or your career depends on your licence then don't drink . . . or have the self discipline to limit yourself to a couple of units and leave a 12 hour gap from bottle to throttle.

More cars on the same roads...well you can do the sums.
...not that I'm for lowering the speed limits as far are some are calling for though...shit, the A9 is bad enough as it is with a 60 limit for cars and all those HGV's doing 50-55 (most of the accidents on it are probably caused as a result of people trying to overtake them as it is, imagine the chaos if they were stuck with having to do 30?).
Drink drive limit?
I think it's fine as it is, but if they do lower it there's a good chance you'll never get caught anyway after they've gone through the Tory program of decimating the Police Force.
Who's going to stop you? G4S?
Re: 60mph........nope 40 - Anyone going to drink to that?
drink drive im with tel if you drink you don,t drive
so there no oh i thought it was ok to have a pint or 2 & stay within the limit
country roads are mainly dangerous because of
1 tractor,s appearing from nowhere ie fields hidden gate,s
2 mud on roads gravel washed out of gulley,s
3 horse,s on blind corners horsebox,s dog walker,s tractor,s again
4 sunday driver,s oh lets take a picture
5 cyclists on ride out
6 looney bike rider,s on a ride out err mmm
it say 49% of accidents are on country roads
so thats leave,s 51% on main roads
im all for cutting down deaths on country roads
so
1 cut down the hedge rows so we can see whats round the corner (ive come round a corner to find a furniture van waiting for me the hedge was that high
2 make farmers clean up the mud not leave it till the rain washer,s it away
3 more off roads horse tracks
4 make tractor drive pull over if there,s more then 4 cars behind them
5 ban all caravans from country lanes unless going to a camp site
6 all biker,s to have loud exhausts blairing horns sirens
force fields neon sign,s travel at 10 mpd (miles per day )with a man in front with a red flag
7 put up the price of petrol diesel to £150 per litre so we all have to walk
8 & last but not lease road tax to 1 trillion per wheel why because im a biker & have only 2

I'll have to aim for air and complete the three!
Seriously though, I got a massive fine & 5 pts for 80 in a NSL, imagine if it had been 80 in a 40!
