Poorly Car
Woke up to a phone call off my neighbour on his way to work, "hi Steve have you had a bump in your car"? No I've not but someone has certainly used it as a stopping aid!! It looks like someone has come round the corner and hit the side of it, driven off, absolutely no respect for other peoples property. Next door neighbour said they heard screeching and a loud bang about 4am this morning.
It looks as though it's been hit in one direction and the car has got stuck so they've gone the other way to get off my car. The more I look at it I think the dickhead family across the road have done it reversing off their drive but how can I prove it!! I hope Karma comes back later and breaks their legs

Re: Poorly Car
That's terrible, have you reported it to the police? Always worth a phone call.
That happened to me and the neighbour that did it, left me a note on my windscreen, needless to say Id driven all the way to Sheffield from Lincs before I noticed the note or the stoved in wing

Re: Poorly Car
To be honest Ellie I can imagine the police not being that arsed and I've already asked the neighbours from hell who claim no knowledge. If I mention my suspicions to the Feds they'll probably say they can't do anything without witnesses/other car but cause me more trouble by talking to the tossers across the road.
What do they say, revenge is a dish best served cold...... I do hold a grudge

Re: Poorly Car
There car will have damage to it for sure if it was them, Can you see any obvious paint traces on your car off the other vehicle?
I've been a panel beater for 25 years & if you find the vehicle that did it it will be very clear Steve

Re: Poorly Car
It's always worth contacting the cops.
A mates son practically had the side of his car ripped off by someone who didn't stop in the early hours of the morning.
Everyone thought there was no chance of the culprit ever being caught, but two weeks later they spotted the culprits car sitting in a driveway a couple of miles away.
When you think about it, the cops probably hate that kind of thing as much as the rest of us, and go out of their way to catch the buggers.
p.s. You're right, it does look like it's been reversed into. If it had been hit a glancing blow there would probably a hell of a lot more scrapage* on the paintwork.
*Yeah, I just made that word up.

Re: Poorly Car
Their actual car hasn't got any damage but they have a lot of "comings and goings" cars so it was probably one of them.robertcains wrote:There car will have damage to it for sure if it was them, Can you see any obvious paint traces on your car off the other vehicle?

I know it was white but I'll be on the lookout for it! Did a tour on my bike of the local area but couldn't find anything :(

Better contacting the police and at least get a report number for your insurance.

Re: Poorly Car
That's crap mate.
Hope the culprits own up or are caught very soon.
I'd imagine your car's colour will be on their car as much as theirs on yours.
Fingers crossed you get some good karma.

Re: Poorly Car
It's not that bad, unless the company has a policy whereby the employee using the vehicle is liable for the excess, regardless of who is at fault.
It's still giving in a bit too easily though.
On the one hand you'll have the company worried that their premium will increase if they claim, and on the other hand the insurance company not giving a toss either way, given that they'll make a commission from referring the repair to a national centre, but at the same time claim it's an expense and add it to their next policy x some arbitrary amount they reckon they can get away with..

Re: Poorly Car
Because we're a relatively small company (5 branches) but we have approximately 100 vehicles on on a very expensive commercial insurance policy so to keep the costs down the policy has a rediculous excess (something like £10,000) so unless we're talking about a total right off or major theft they just tend to sort it out themselves and pay for it.
Mad as it seems it works out cheaper that way and is quite common practise in our industry. Place I used to work at had a half million excess on their motor vehicle policy!! Again it keeps the wagons legally insured and on the road but the premium lower

Re: Poorly Car
Just had a call from traffic police asking for more details On the incident, they asked if my neighbour has a description of the driver, a licence plate, description of the car and was there any CCTV in the area.
As I said no to all of the above he said it was most likely either someone driving under the influence, uninsured, without a licence, otherwise disqualified or just someone who didn't want to stop...... No shit Sherlock, some great police work there, my faith is officially restored!!
He also said that unless the culprit physically handed themselves in or we can provide a licence plate number the chances of them bein caught is very slim. Thanks, if I find out who did I'll be sure to get in touch after I've beaten 7 bells out of them.
Incidentally repairs will be £1600 give or take, boss was over the moon with that start to his week

Re: Poorly Car
What did you expect the police to do? They've done all they can, but If there's a spate of similar incidents in the area it will build a picture.
Dont lower yourself to a thugs level to threaten to beat people up or their family. It's in writing now so if he's found murdered, you shall be the first suspect!!
Just rise above it and hope whoever did it has the same done to them one day.

Re: Poorly Car
It's not the car I couldn't care less it's the principle, the fact that someone for whatever reason, be it drunken, uninsured, just poor ability, think it is okay to cause damage to another persons property and not own up disgusts me pure and simple. I would have no hesitation in giving someone the hiding of their life if I caught them Doing something like this, to anyone's personal Property, not just mine.
It's about standing up and saying "no, what you're doing isn't right and you won't get away with it".

Re: Poorly Car
But physical violence isn't the answer and that's why we live in a civilised society lol.
I agree mindless vandalism is gutting when you work hard for what you've got.
Plus they may be bigger then you lol.
