There was a... yeah... a dead squirrel that was splattered on the white line and I thought it was a break and by the time i noticed I was already overtaking.

There has to be always someone that has to miss use there indicator.

on the scoucers bit, as I was walking to my room when we all left the pub on friday, I did hear 2 quite Scottish scoucers walking up off the street going 'calm down calm down' .........

Nah, he must have been overtaking on freshly painted white lines. His tyre had that strobe effect!

The group must have been spread out even in this short time for no one to have noticed Rosco heading off the wrong direction.

I think you'll find that that issue you have with you peripheral vision that makes solid lines look broken means you were guilty also;)
