New member saying hi
First topic message reminder :
Hi
I'm Martin from Bournemouth and I just joined in
I'm looking for my first big bike and I really fancy the :yzf:
I'm 31 and spent my last 3 years on my YBR 125 which I've sold today
Now trying to track down a nice Tcat but everything that was close to me already is gone.
I would like to find out more about Tcats on this forum, because I've already seen everything what I could find on the net.
Hope to meet some friendly people and experienced Tcat owners for some hints and inside knowledge

Re: New member saying hi
Thanks Oldcat and yes no point for me pretending to be a "hero" and buying something that I couldn't handle straight away.0ldcat wrote:Nice looking wee purchase you got there mate
Good for you knowing your own limitations and going for the right bike for you.
Naughty boy for riding it home . . . Unless of course you were on an extended lesson being followed and observed by your DAS instructor
Once you've passed your test you'll be more than welcome to join as many of our rides & meets you feel you want to. You'll soon get all the experience you need to move on up to the next step in your biking career
I think that after a couple of weeks I would get used to the riding position and would feel more confident on the TCat, but I'm not regretting my decision and still consider Thundercat as my next bike in the future.
Of course my instructor was following me all the way back, but in a car because it was quite cold
Shame he didn't had an examiner with him, because I think for all my efforts I should be awarded a Pass!
Especially after last second 70mph swerve manoeuvre, when a car in a fast lane hit the remains of a lorry tyre after blow-out and send them spinning straight at me! Close shave but ended up ok with just a set of new underwear required
Thanks and as soon as I pass my test and put few more miles under my belt I'll be happy to go for one of the rides.mechy69 wrote:

P.S. Anybody know where's that lovely spring weather we had recently went to?

Re: New member saying hi
Congratulations on picking up your bike. The pics are great and the bike looks a nice tidy example.
Good luck with the test. Let us know how you get on and I hope you can make one of the ride-outs this year.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: New member saying hi
I would just like to say that I passed my test today...
:whoop:
Tomorrow I should have my insurance sorted - transferring from old bike to the new one and then I will start enjoying my Bandit!

Congratulations!
It's the best feeling in the world.
Take it easy on the new bike and let us know what you think of it and how you get on.
Cheers,
Chris

Nice bike, like the colour you'll enjoy it more when it stops raining .
At work there's been a near identical Bandit (02 plate) sitting outside, uncovered for 18 months.
It's a bloody shame, usually happens when the Airman go back to the States but apparently he's still here.

Re: New member saying hi
Managed to have one day of fun on the bike on Tuesday for 5 hours.
The weather was lovely and I took it to New Forest - what a great day.
Then took it again for a short ride on Wednesday after work - just a quick ride to Hein Gericke for a Disc Lock and on Friday I rode it to work and back.
It is very nice to ride and easy for me to handle with enough power + there is still some in reserve!
I will have to buy a bigger screen because right now all the air is directed straight at my helmet and doing 70 at motorway is not very pleasant
Also not quite sure about tyres - they look good but are quite old now (8 -9 years?) - managed to spin the rear wheel a little accelerating on 3rd gear on a wet stretch of road, and later on got scared when the front slipped a bit on a faster corner in a slightly wet road and then nearly lost the back again on the very slow corner in the dry.
It is also hesitating a little bit for the first 10 minutes when cold, but fine after that and my choke seems to work sometimes better and sometimes worse, but I booked it with my local mechanic to have a look on Tuesday morning and he will tell me what needs doing, adjusting etc.
So far I'm very pleased with the bike and have to sort out the tyres and my lack of confidence to ride in the wet - those two might be closely related!
