Re: which oil to choice
Ok I've been reading the tips on here and there's some good info (as usual). However, I settled on the idea of an oil and filter change every six months a while back. I only go for Halfords oil (10-40) and have used various makes of filter but I figure with such short periods between changes this will be fine. Might cost me a little more as I don't do a lot of miles (almost 3yrs with the Cat and just over 12k now) but I got the impression that frequent oil changes definitely help lengthen the life of the engine. Might look into the best types of filter, tho. Any recommendations or should it just be Yamaha all the way?

If you're using Halfords oil then use the Halford filter, there's nothing wrong with them.

Re: which oil to choice
I managed 14,500 in 12months with had 2 filter changes and 3 Oil changes.
If I am going to do a trackday I will change the Oil regardless as it gets hammered on a track.
I will say it here so it's not so noticable, this Oil made the bike run so well on Saturday (and New Back tyre) that I was out for 6hrs instead of the intended short 1/2hr ride, during that time I managed to scuff both knee sliders without coming off.

Re: which oil to choice
The more cold starts and the more short runs that the bike has the more often the oil should be changed. Only did 5105 miles in the last 12 months so changed the oil and filter twice.
