Thundercat prep for the WeeMac
5 days to when I leave for a 800 mile weekend outing to Scotland for the WeeMac and I start getting the bike ready...
No MOT, no tax, oil thicker than a premiership footballer, bald tyres and I have not ridden the Thundercat for 6 months
Good job I am not leaving in 5 days then...oh hang on...sh!t!

Up on the paddock stand and out with the back wheel

Pretty grubby in there
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Bit of Gunk and elbow grease and things are looking better

I am even going to clean the hugger

Grubby

Finally using my workbench for some actual work!
Get the new tyre fitted on Tuesday and hopefully get the MOT done too. The give the old crate some fresh oil and a new filter.
It would probably be easier to take the FZ or RD, but hey ho!

Re: Thundercat prep for the WeeMac
New tyre now fitted to the rim for £8 including a new valve. Refitted the wheel to the bike this morning
MOT passed at Grand Prix Motors today with no advisories. The 12th consecutive time the Thundercat has passed its' MOT first time.
Just got to tax it now and then change the oil and filter

Re: Thundercat prep for the WeeMac
Now taxed, fully legal.
Got the oil filter this afternoon. Will do the oil/filter change in the morning and then all set.
Just hope the weather gets a bit warmer!

Re: Thundercat prep for the WeeMac
Aye, it was snowing this morning...but it was nice when the sun came out.
At this time of year it's pot luck as far as the weather is concerned.
It's looking good though, the pressure chart for the weekend shows a high pressure system over the Borders, so it should be dry (although a tad gusty).

Re: Thundercat prep for the WeeMac
Thundercat now has fresh oil and filter and enjoyed her first proper run of the year up to Quatt and back. All seems ready for Scotland on Friday.

Re: Thundercat prep for the WeeMac
I did my oil and filter at the weekend. First time, hands are still recovering from burns and scratches, why put the damn filter inbetween the exhaust pipes?
After undoing the drain with the socket I thought I would undo it the rest of the way by hand, it was a little warm and when I let go of it, it decided to come all the way out! Don't think my wooden shed floor will rot very quickly now! So much for my Heine Gerick Oil tray to catch the oil.

Am I missing something? Why not wait till the pipes cold?

You know how long that takes after it has been run for 10mins to heat the oil up? Really, women, no wonder Nick does all your maintenance!
