HOW DO !!
Hi all,
I'm Dave, just joined the forum last night. I run a motorbike engineering business in Wellington, New Zealand. I specialise in pre 90's Japanese, everything from straight restorations to post classic racers and twin shock trials.
I'm on here as the newish owner of a Thundercat motor which is going in a Suzuki GS750 frame. Never had anything this modern!! before so hopefully I'll be able to do a bit of brain picking.

Re: HOW DO !!
Hi Dave
Welcome aboard.
I've been to Wellington (over 11 year ago - honeymoon), cousin stays in Wainiomata (or similar spelling) and Aunt stays in Nelson.
Started in Auckland (dinner up at the top of the tower), Rotoroa for the geysers and before we left we went skiing on Mount Hutt.
When it comes to the motor all I know is where the oil goes and that the throttle make go quicker so I'll probably not be able to help much.
There are a few good brains full of knowledge on here so I'm sure you'll get some help.
So what the story with the Yorkshire bit of your site name?
Cheers
Rosco

Re: HOW DO !!
Hi Dave,
Welcome to the site You must be our furthest flung member! Ouch, that sounds painful.
When you get the chance do post up more about you and your business. I'm not sure what we can teach you, but ask away and someone will have the answer. Some pics would be great too.
Hope you find us helpful and friendly. Ride-out season is just about to start here in the UK so apologies in advance for any antics we get up to - I'm banking on an interesting summer.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: HOW DO !!
Hi all, I live just up road from Wainui.
I've been in NZ since '95 but I'm originally from Foston on the Wolds, a little village near Driffield in East Yorks. I worked at BAe at Brough for several years before setting up on my own with a bike restoration business.
I also marshalled and raced with Auto 66 club for several years in late 80's / early 90's.
Bike business I have here is mainly pre 90's Japanese. I do everything from standard rebuilds through to post classics (currently building a Suzi GS550 for pre '82), specials and dabble a bit with classic twin shock trials. So the Thundercat is an other animal altogether. I'm still getting to grips with monoshocks and water cooling.
Once I've got started on the YAMAUKI (patent applied for!!) I'll start a build thread if anyone's interested.

Re: HOW DO !!
You sound like a useful person to know.
I've got a Honda CB650Z in the garage, a project I haven't started yet and god knows when I will.
But when I do - expect a call.
BTW if I do call, will you accept the charges?

Re: HOW DO !!
Certainly Jam, I assume I'll be acting in a consultancy role so I'll just stick the charges on the bill.

Re: HOW DO !!
An invitation like that is tantamount to organising a rideout!
I don't think anyone will be popping over this weekend, so your Hob Nobbs are safe for the moment, but you did issue the invite so......

Re: HOW DO !!
BUGGER !! There was me thinking New Zealand was far enough away for me to issue an invite but not have to worry about anybody turning up.
Still if you're that dedicated just give me a couple hours notice.
