Little ride to the Peak District
As you may or may not know I've been having murders with my suspension and as I'd (hopefully) managed to make some progress I decided to hop over to Glossop to give it a try.
After some boring motorway (M60 & M67) the suspension was notably better over cats eyes (yes it was that bad!!) I hit the good roads finding a loop that took me through Hadfield, Glossop, Chapel En Le Frith and over toward Hope and Castleton. 50 odd miles of stunning roads and scenery with barely a car on the roads to spoil it. (plus the mood I was in I was breezing past them all anyway.
The Mistress handled like a dream, better than I can ever remember, the settings on the suspension must've been so screwed up but I just didn't realise. Thinking back now this is perhaps why I developed a corner phobia recently. Anyway that demon was well and truly exercised, she hugged the roads like on rails and didn't put a foot wrong. It did so much for my confidence and I had the best total 3 hours out of my life. (bike wise!!)
Didn't think I could love biking more but I guess I was wrong, bring on the summer

And this is my tyre, hope it comes out how close to the edge I was

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
Looks like a great ride out, congrats on getting the suspension setup.
I'm just about to tackle this on my new 'Cat, any tips or good settings to try?
Safe riding,
Andy.

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
To be honest Andy I'd say if it ain't broke don't fix it !! I had issues with mine but that's another story of my woe, you can read all about it on here. The best advice I can give is if it's giving you problems, (which mine was) then have a good look at this, Past It gave it to me and didn't look back

It will certainly help along with a lot of patience (and dry days to keep trying it out)

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
Thanks Snowcat, I'll take a look at it.
The previous owner has some weird settings setup, so I want to revert to stock, then increase it for my weight.
Thanks again,
Andy.

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
Beautiful scenery, I just love living in Derbyshire.
We need a Peaks rideout lol! ( as long as you don't mind all the roads being 50mph lol)

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
I'll meet anyone any weekend ride out up there, and as for 50mph, urm okay, just watch out for the helicopter.
When I was riding back down the M67 I was doing about 73MPH LOL (okay 85!!) when a police Impreza passed me doing about a tonne. Not that I'm advocating speeding but if you're sensible, the roads are right and conditions are right the Feds will be lenient

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
Not a chance in Derbyshire, the plods have vans everywhere, sometimes two vans on the same road with a Volvo waiting to play cat & mouse, its a mugs game around the peaks these days unless you ride a moped!

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
Yeah right....good luck with arguing the point with the Derbyshire constabulary.
If you do happen to find a decent road, it's either 50 mph, heavily policed or bumper to bumper traffic. There's one or two roads that are OK but they don't compare to Lincs or Wales

At the risk of repetition . . . .
you're using the wrong roads . . . .

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
No police, no vans, no Volvo's, no traffic, just the roads and the sunshine... Unless I should expect a busy letterbox ??
I'm no expert but I've been told by friends that Wales is the Police capital of GB and they don't care for the English biker, know a guy who was chased down the at 6 in the morning.
Besides I still VERY MUCH consider myself a learner so apart from some very straight straights I doubt I was south side of the law anyway

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
Well I've ridden Wales a few times and never seen a police car but you never know! There might be hundreds lying in weight for BC4!
Well I'm just speaking from the experience of living in Derbyshire and the journeys we've made but no doubt you'll know far more about the subject than me Tel!

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
I'd hazard a guess that the presence is tenfold in Derbyshire against Wales, that said I never take anything for granted, once you go over the limit you can blame no one but yourself

It was just a nice ride out for me and I really enjoyed it but perhaps I'll keep it to myself in future, didn't know it'd cause so much trouble :(

Re: Little ride to the Peak District
As long as you had a good time and got home safe that's all that matters, good to hear the bikes better, next bit is grinding the toes of your boots, followed by the pegs (that's not so easy on a Cat either), One thing I've noticed in all the photo's is whats with all the clean bikes?, get yourself a B&Q one and ride it and do'nt worry as the orange ones do'nt show the dirt and the paint can be seen through the muck no matter how thick, suspect Rosco will back me up there.

+1 - note that riding like a duck allows you to easily grind your toes. New boots for me....I've since learned where to put my feet.
Glad to hear you had a nice time.
Been glorious up here....not managed out though :(
Cheers

Bless her, Bea was just trying to prevent the inevitable payback I'd get. It was such a lovely day I would only have over taxed myself and been in real trouble the next few days after
