What a kafuffle!
Finally got round to servicing the cat and balancing the carbs yesterday. My friend who is a qualified motorbike mechanic (but actually works with in IT ) did it for me free of charge (although I bought the parts).
We started at 4pm at my house, he said we will easily have it done in 1 hour 30 mins so I thought this is great, good to have someone who knows what they are doing!
....Finish 11.20pm on a closed Tesco petrol station forecourt!
Because she is an old bike and we didn't have many specialist tools we seemed to encounter complications on every part we attempted to change ...being creative we did invent out own tools and eventually get the job done.
But here is the dumb part! After putting the bike back together, started the bike up (all seems fine) I road it up the driveway so my mate could hop on, suddenly starts cutting out and nothing happening when opening the throttle!
so had to take the bike back down the drive and took of the tank and set up the carb balancer as we we suspected it was to do with air/fuel mixture. Started her up and all seemed fine, carbs nicely in sync :rite: had a look around checking everything was connected etc all seemed fine?!? ...Popped the tank back on and I blasted her down the road so check all was fine. We went for it! got 2mins down the road approaching the fuel station (we were running on reserve) and conked out on roundabout
Once again we had to take off the tank (stupidly filling it up first) suddenly bike is running again! :(
After some fishing around we finally figured it out! The fuel pipe was kinking when we put the tank on so it was starving the bike of fuel!
...Just comes to show how something so simple can make such a huge difference! She is running sweet now

Re: What a kafuffle!
I love kinky high octane storylines and this was no exception.
Glad you got there in the end Paul.
