Good old combination of beer, ebay and an encouraging mate and I seem to of bought ANOTHER RD350YPVS

Picked it up a couple of weeks ago now, the 4th example of a YPVS that I have owned since 1985!

In a strange twist it turns out I knew the bloke selling the bike, I used to work at the same place 2001-3...small old world.

Anyway the bike itself rides quite well, and the FZR400 calipers fitted to the front are excellent. The connection to the headlight is loose and needs sorting, and few bits and bobs need to be tidied up, but basically it seems straight and honest. Looking forward to some two stroke fun this summer.

Well here is a pic:

The photo flatters the bike a bit, but she is ok for 26! Unlike me...I look rough for 26

Sounds like eBay and alcohol and a little encouragement can turn you into a compulsive hoarder.

Buy another couple and Channel 4 might do a documentary on it. Wink

Cheers

I always fancied one of those.

I loved my RD400, and this would have been the obvious next step, but it had to go when we moved dahn sarf and needed cash for a house.

My first bike , after I passed my 2 part test, was the beloved A reg, bikini faired, black and red, RD350 YPVS LC. Embarassed

I really loved that bike, until it ended up embeded in the side of a Lada, remember those? Sick

I never really liked the fully faired YPVS with the square light. I had the original! Until I crashed it.... Crying or Very sad

In 11985 I had the red white and blue model with cockpit fairing and belly pan, mine wound up in the side of a truck!

My first YPVS

Then I had a F2 brand new in 89

Collecting my brand new F2...note my stylish glasses!

My 3rd was a bitsa YPVS about 5 or 6 years ago.

Fun, but not very original

Then I saw the F1 on ebay. It needs some work too, but hey ho!

I have also had a RD250E, a RD250LC and a Kawasaki KH250

Well for 35 glorious miles last Sunday my recently acquired RD350YPVS was my own personal time machine as it whisked me back to 1985 in a glorious, fragarent haze of shell 2-stroke oil. This was the first time I had taken the RD out for a proper thrash and the feeling af going back to my youth was only heightened by the presence of an old pal riding with me on his TDR250YPVS; back in the day we had many memorable blasts on our original Yamaha two-strokes and was an amazing feeling to be out there again on bikes like these. The last time we rode together on 2 strokes was probably back in 86, some 26 years ago. We even covered some of the same roads as we thrashed out towards Lichfield, tearing along, keeping the peaky motors in the powerband and revelling in the light chuckble feel of these waiffe like machines. It was a gusty day and the RD was getting really shifted about, but the suspension was coping ok and the FZR400 calipers on the front do at least mean the brakes work!

What a fantastic little bike, I am so glad I have added it to the fleet...roll on summer!

RD350F1 YPVS and TDR250YPVS...ideal for a bit of two-stroke time travel!

Parked up in Lichfield, just like in days gone by...it could almost be the 1980's again!!
