Swinton Bikes - Greedy Scamming Insurance Stewards of the Bar Empty Swinton Bikes - Greedy Scamming Insurance Stewards of the Bar

Got back from Surf and Turf and found a renewal notice from Swinton Bike Insurance.

Last year as a new biker I paid (in total including a change of bike 6 months in to the Cat) just over £300. No claims, convictions etc etc so I expected it to come down a touch.

Renewal amount £571.42 fuming

Thought I best get a few quotes today - 5 minutes of Comparing Meerkats later, same cover from Bennetts £164.77

What pisses me off most though is Swinton came up in the comparison at £165.68

Now I have double checked all the details and the details are all exactly the same

So pray tell me Mr Swinton why as a new customer would I get it £401.74 cheaper than as a loyal customer. Scamming bar stewards - guess who will never get my business again no matter what price they offer in years to come .......

Fraz - I was with MCE last year, £135 - renewal comes in at £165. I decide to shop around, get deal at £135 from Carole Nash (better conditions, breakdown, foreign travel etc).
Go with them, then MCE phone me and ask why I wasn't renewing - explain and the guy THEN says he could have beaten their quote!
They are all at it, just hoping you wont be bothered to change and pushing to see how much you will pay

Wouldn't touch Bennetts with a barge pole.

Yet my renewal with Swinton was £100 a year cheaper than last year. Bizarre!

Yeah I know Billy but charging more than 3.5 times what they will give a new customer ...... Always expect them to be £30/£40 out on car insurances and so on but this just seems ridiculous.

Ellie - any reason you wouldnt go near Bennetts ?

Fraz - just goes to show that someone (and more than just one) must be stumping up or they wouldn't try it on.

Well spotted Fraz. You'd be kicking yourself if you hadn't noticed til after the event.

I've been with Carole Nash a couple of years now and even although the quote did go up very slightly I thought it was worth it considering I had the breakdown cover etc.

Cheers

I'm stuck in the grip of SwinFuckingTon in sewer ants!
I've swapped and changed so many times this past couple fo years that their cancellation charges have been a real drain. If I ever get the chance to free myself of them they will get the Boot sharpish!

Google is your friend, Bennetts are fine as long as you don't need to make a claim or change any details on the cover.

I was with Bikesure last year and my renewal was 500 odd thanks to plod car sitting on my bike in back yard of the nick when I was no where near it thanks to dozy plastic plod failing to put handbrake on (bloody women drivers!) Needless to say I told them to shove it up their bum!

Swintons came to my rescue £150 or thereabouts fully comp with the same company I'd been with with bikesure!!

I suppose the only real test of an Insurance company is when you have to make a claim and then you'll find out. I pay £100 a year through Swinton.
