My bike blog
First topic message reminder :
Evening all,
I decided a few weeks ago to start my own bike blog, its nothing serious but just things that catch my eye or attention in the biking world I thought I would write about. And an excuse to ramble and waffle about things that annoy me at heart I am already a grumpy old man
The posts might not make that much sense but did when I thought it all out in my head!
I am not that expereinced a as biker compared to most but thought would just be a bit of fun as I am a youff and not seen many blogs from us younger bikers

Enjoy!

Re: My bike blog
Cheers for all the feedback guys and gals, glad you enjoy it!
Stu - Saw that yesterday and have started my application for it, but thanking you for the heads up onit though!
just a few ideas short for features but got a about 7/8 out of the 10 needed.
Would be a dream come true if it worked out given I am currently unemployed and the job market is a bit of a war zone currently!!

Re: My bike blog
Apply for the job at MCN...you never know. I applied for jobs on bike nagazines back in the 90's and got shortlisted for one. If you do not apply you will never get it! Only takes an email...good luck!

Re: My bike blog
Nice one Dave.
I'd argue the front of the Rideout isn't the 'fast' group though.
Folks who mark junctions and play catch up probably have the same average speed but the time spent marking (especially once a group spreads out) can have a much faster moving average speed.
It is normally always best to have the newbies and slower riders on the move without marking.
Best of both worlds for everyone that way me thinks.
Folks get the chance to ride their own pace.
If the pace isn't fast enough for you then stop and mark, take a picture.
Wait on the back marker, have a blether, then play catch up.
I really like back marking as I get to take lots of pictures and then play catchup

Re: My bike blog
I agree in hindsight maybe fast group isnt the best term as it isnt a race
I would have loved to have taken some pictures, but I stupidly left my camera on all night by mistake and killed its battery.......

That's a good comment to be fair, As the leader you're quite often find yourself slowing pace to suit the rider behind, Its far quicker at the back usually, It's actually more enjoyable (in a different way) to not be the leader

Re: My bike blog
That's the big difference I've found Mark on my first forum ride out at BC, there's no egos and you know that you can ride at your own pace, watch others and learn a hell of a lot more than smaller rides out with a group of mates. I was really nervous at the start and as Dave said know I made a few mistakes but the more I got into it I found the more my confidence grew and I found myself settle into it quite quickly.
When out with friends I know my place in the pack and as much as I enjoy these rides it sometimes feels bad that you know you are frustrating people by them having to ride slow or stop for you to play catch up.
This bigger group ride and the way it is organised is ideal for any standard of experience of rider as it caters for all abilities. Couldn't give a more glowing report, nor can I wait to go out with them again
