Thundercat Addiction
Been a bit of bike changing of late which seems to have rubbed off on me. So my beloved kitty will be finding a new home sometime in the not too distant future. I can't believe how attached I am to it, almost feeling like a traitor moving on after 4 odds years and 60 odd thou miles. I've had fantastic service from it, but do realise that cannot continue if I keep up my riding regime.
I might be boring and unadventurous, but I'm not tired of 's just yet, so the 'new' bike is a Red :yzf:

I know how you feel , but I get great comfort knowing that it's going to you and not some stranger from Auto trader or ebay

I had to give myself a good talking to last night.
I was looking at a really tidy 2007 R1 (black/red trim, Akrapovic cans) for around £6k.
But it occurred to me that it'd be better spent on a pension plan (I only have 20 years left to get that kind of shit in order I thought)
..only?
I remember when 20 years was forever, and that really was 'only' 20 years ago.
I reckon I'm turning into an old fart in front of my own eyes.
Re: Thundercat Addiction
Excellent news Steve
Hope you got a good price - it's only been ditched once - I think!
Let's hope that was a one off and you can teach the old girl some better habits
You're going to end up being our longest serving Thundercat owner on the site.

Nothing wrong with the old girls' habits , it was the dodgy rider on it at the time !!
Also hasn't Paul (Weasley) had his cat for about 10 years ??

Re: Thundercat Addiction
The question is did you buy the tank cover to match the bike or the bike to match the tank cover?

Re: Thundercat Addiction
Glad you are getting another thundercat steve & not changing to something else. I quite fancy an R1 but only for the looks i really do not want to go any faster than the cat is capable of & i would keep the cat.
I have had mine for eight years although it did not get used much for a few years when the kids were young.
Paul.

Steve,
I think you are going to be lost when you lift the seat and don't see any Spaghetti underneath!!!! :rite:
I wonder how long it will take before the new one looks like the old?

Very astute Billy, and the key question to unlocking the puzzle. Woosters' reasoning mirrors my own and too unlocks an untold story
I had my eye on a Blue 2007 'Cat, as nice as it is the head was saying "keep your mitts off that money it's for when you're ". It didn't stop me from trying to work out just how low the dealer would go if I made an offer (think there's some Yorkshire in me ). Add the cost to adding the bits I'm used to on mine .. umm, but it's a late model ..., there's nothing wrong with the bike you got .. boy the civil war that was raging in my head.
espaceman3's 'Cat was on eBay I was watching the progress, initially to gauge what sort of offer I was going to make on the 2007 bike, but then started thinking that I really ought to give it a try, there was a red tank cover available after all. . Fair price I think ( but then who wouldn't want to sell for more and buy for less )
So the answer is the bike did come first, but who knows which colour it would have been if not for the tank bag cover

I'm rather hoping it's properly house trained and has no further interest in ditches Chris.
Think I join the smaller group of second 'Cat owners and have to resign from the high mileage on my current bike club.
It is good to know that folk keep their 'Cats for many years, would have been my intention too had I not had this problem of forgetting to get off the bike.
Anyway, it's a good chance for me to test to see which is the fastest colour

Re: Thundercat Addiction
Well done on your purchase/sale both of you!
I too have thought of buying a newer 'cat but it's the only bike I've ever owned apart from my 125 so wanna try something new....a change is as good as a rest!

Re: Thundercat Addiction
I love the colour red , it's a shame my replacement bike doesn't come in Red , but I think I can live with that

Re: Thundercat Addiction
Some of us already know the fastest colour(s), two or tri tone with black, and may surprise you they go just as well with a pillion (yip there's more than one ) and nope I'm not talking about me.
Would do me good to slow down a bit, so I don't mind.
I'd better grab my (black) lid and run before I start another colour war

Don't worry, I'll sort out the 'underseat technology' in no time at all, after all - and I ought not to say this, but what the he* - I am able to run the US Space program, if needed, from my bike Well it's out now, a mobile DR site
