HULLO!INFO WANTED
First topic message reminder :
Hi names Kev, from Scotland and had a bike for about 9 months now.
Doing my DAS at the mo and hoping to get a "cat" as my 1st big bike. Curently have a DT125 2004 and its class, so am gonna stick to yamaha.
Been reading reviews and asking about on other sites about cats and got some good info but i think coming to a cat specific site will get me the best knowledge.
I would like some info on likely problems to look out for/the 2nd gear issues and other advice on buying, also if anyone was selling in the near future.
Hope this is not too much to ask being my 1st post and also dont get booted for never owning a YZF600

Re: HULLO!INFO WANTED
The Big Mac?? I would love to come on a rideout but i think i would just slow everyone down at the moment. Need to learn a bit more me thinks.
That coast road by Troon, Ayr then on to down Castle Douglas and then Dumfries looks like it would be class. Let me know if you are thinking about it and i might meet you for a jaunt.
Thanks for the offer to help me out with the carb issues. I'll check what my garage is charging and if they take the piss i will take you up on the offer.
Thanks again Kev.

Re: HULLO!INFO WANTED
Hi Kev
I do indeed have Dave's Manometer.
At first I thought it was his Gay-Dar but it does seem to balance the carbs. Not quite as fancy as gauge (and it takes a bit longer because of that) but it works just fine.
I'm doing mine tonight or tomorrow night (ready for the trip to Spain this weekend)
You could pay us a visit (when I come back) and we can do them here if you want.
You supply the biscuits and I'll supply the coffee!
As for Big Mac.......it is open to anyone on the site (and selected friends thereof)
You will need a bit of confidence and ability but I'm sure you'll pick up loads en-route
Might manage a run down your neck of the woods in June or July (could maybe hook up with DBD too .... when he's onshore!)
Cheers

Nope not just you, one of the design features

Eat lots of carrots, strap a bicycle light to your lid or don't ride at night :( (all pretty helpful tips )
I have put a Xenon lamp in mine and it has helped a bit, others have put in a higher wattage bulb with marginal success. The problem lies with the reflector.
Might be worth checking the alignment of the reflector, lived with really bad lighting for some time - till I had it adjusted, still not brilliant, but way better than it was.
Look under Hints and Tips (click here), Sooty has posted about a HID kit he has fitted - looks pretty impressive.

Hi Kev
I've squished the removed the mushroom thingy and put in a high wattage H4 bulb in. Better than before but still not great.
Big Mac details are under the Rideouts section and we certainly won't be stopping at Maccy D's for lunch.
Lunch is most likely to be somewhere nice Jacurutu has found for us (on day 1) the Applecross Inn (on day 2).
Fitted my clutch cable and changed the oil & filter last night.
Don't know if I'll have time to balance my carbs now........still got loads to do before tomorrow morning.....off to Spain although the weather there isn't much better at the moment :( but fingers crossed.
Cheers
