Hello there!
How do!
Not really a newbie, more of a returning member looking to return to the fold, if you'll let me?
Some of you will remember me in my previous Unlucky Alf incarnation when I was pootling around on my trusty 2003 burgundy Thundercat. Well lots has happened since then and hopefully water has well passed under the bridge and moved on...
Where am I at now I hear no-one ask?!? Well unfortunately the trusty Cat finally gave up the ghost last year after 45,000 miles (all them my own!) of quite amazing service but with her spending her life outside, being ridden every day in the rain, grime, salt and sea air plus various trips down the road without me, plus a memorable blast round Donnington before the bulldozers moved in kind of took the toll on her. To her full credit, the thing that actually did for her was the meta alarm rotting away and taking half the wiring loom with it. Mechanically she was still running sweet as (including good old carb icing, but we love that Wynns Dry Fuel!), but the cost to take the loom apart and try and fix what had gone was rather large, so it was time to bide her a fond farewell.
To replace her, I splashed out on a 2005 R1 in... yup, burgundy! A quite outstanding machine and huge grin inducing motor on her that helps relieve all sorts of work frustrations on dinner time blasts round the local roads. I'm lucky enough to have Devil's Bridge a mere 20 miles up the road from work, so trips to there help bring a grin to my face. Managed to get three track days on her already, Oulton, Rockingham and Cadwell. 3 fairly different circuits, each showing how good the bike is and how exceptionally limited my ability on it is, even with some tyres that my mate uses in the National Superstock 1000 series on her.
Good to see so many of the old names still on here and still active and that the infamous rideouts are still going strong!
Keep safe,
Andy

Re: Hello there!
Hi Andy
Sorry to hear about your cat - bike alarms are evil.
First time I met you was at the very first Surf and Turf...........all I can remember was THAT mudguard
Sorry to say but it must be the worst add-on I've ever seen on any Thundercat. Do you have any photos?
I thought you were banned from here just for having it on.
Tell us you haven't bastardized the R1 with similar wares

Welcome back andy, nice to see you've still got the R1. Safe riding, maybe you'll catch up with some of the gang on a rideout sometime.

Haha, nope Rosco, the R1 is totally unsullied, as standard as when it rolled out of the factory! Although to be picky, I think the first time that addition made the light of day, it was on a TOL rideout

Re: Hello there!
Oh the mudguard, I'd forgot about that! I thought you were both talking about the front mudguard, fender carbon thing!
In my defence, that was how the bike came, that wasn't an addition by me!

Maybe I took my Tail end Charlie role a tad too seriously
I remember going through Devils Bridge on BC2, even though a sneeze you would have missed it. Was just after this (HD in full screen )
