Wee Mac 2011 Sign Up (Fri 29th April - Sunday 1st May) & 4 wheel surprise - Gauge of interest please.
First topic message reminder :
Hi All
Looking for a gauge of interest on this one please.
Probable maybe's and above.
The plan at the moment is to do something a bit different on the Friday night (subject to interest)
Since we are all petrol heads anyway how about seeing if we can get the go-karts on two wheels on the Friday night before the rideout on the Saturday.
Fiona (WkW) and myself have been looking at karting and accommodation inboth Edinburgh (near the airport) and Livingston (about 10 miles west). We have since confirmed our booking at Livingston.
The guestimates of cost are currently approx £23 pppn (excluding breakfast) at a Hotel near to the karting (walking distance at Edinburgh Karting and about 2miles away from Livingston Karting)
Karting is working out at £25 pp at Livingston andpossibly a bit more (tbc) at Edinburgh
Accomodation cost should be £27.50 pppn Inc breakfast
Cost of the karting should be £25 pp. We need 12 minimum.
Good news and bad news.
Bad news is the only time we can get karting is 5.30 til 7.30 pm on the Friday.
We need to be there at 5pm!!!
Good news - or is it - we can get to the bar earlier.
You can just turn up at the karting (race-ready) and check in at your accommodation after if that helps.
I'm not forcing people to stay in the accommodation we suggest nor forcing people to attend or participate in the karting.
FYI - For people staying in the group accommodation we normally suggest people share twins (and doubles if you've pulled) and if it turns out we need an additional single room then the full cost is split equally between all people in the group accomodation. If you specifically want a single then you will need to pay any extra yourself.
If enough people want to do the karting for it to be viable them it will go ahead.
If people express an interest in doing a shorter and more fuel economical ride-out then this will go ahead. We've got a volunteer rideout leader ready should there be people wanting this option.
As mentioned in the other post should the two rideout option go ahead then we will probably still have rendezvous points and lunch together so people have the option of changing if they wish. If you are new to rideouts and want to be broken in gently or not so new to rideouts and fancy seeing the views a bit more then this might be just the ticket for you.
Route(s) haven't been 100% sorted yet but we will do our best to ensure we find the best bits.
Show your interest by adding your details below or PM me (with any questions too) with the info required below and I'll add you on. A deposit of £10 will confirm your place (subject to room availability)
Cheers

Hi Fraz.
Most (but not all) are going karting on the Friday night (very early evening) in Livingston.
Most (but not all) are staying over at the digs we have lined up in Livingston. Dirt bike dave is staying over ( don't think you gathered that bit )
You are welcome for the go karting / staying over bit too if you fancy. See the details under 'something for the weekend'
I need to confirm numbers soon so let us know for sure asap if you fancy more than just the rideout.
Normally have a quick run through of the 'house rules', system, markers etc before we set off so ideally you'd need to meet up with us before we set off on the sat morning.
Cheers

Hi Rosco
Yeah as in my original post I already have prior commitments Friday and Saturday night and wasnt sure if you can just turn up for the ride out. Early starts to get to where you guys are leaving from is no issue as I am up at 3 am on my early shift, if its more of a weekend thing then I will catch up on a future ride out.
Anyways you can let me know the score and will take it from there.

Hi Fraz
I'll be heading through on the Friday night but you could meet us in Livingston in the morning.
Like Rosco said it's better for you to meet us before we head off as we go through the marker system and a pre ride chat so everyone knows what's happening and how we mark junctions for the group etc.
If you've never ridden in a group before I strongly recommend you come along. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Great bunch of people and some very experienced riders you can pick up some good tips up from.
Shame you can't hang around for the post ride "refreshments" tho.

Hi Fraz
Sorry .... I missed that in your original post about your prior commitments.
You are welcome to attend just the rideout.
Look forward to seeing you there.
There is some group rideout info around here somewhere.
Cheers

Re: Wee Mac 2011 Sign Up (Fri 29th April - Sunday 1st May) & 4 wheel surprise - Gauge of interest please.
Speaking of pairing up on the ride up, myself and Stevecat are heading out from Richmond Fri am and will be taking a scenic route. I saw Rob and Linz on Sunday at Sherburn and though the convo was short as I was leaving and they were arriving I got the impression that meeting them wasn't unfeasible for some of the way too.. (Looks like a green kwaka 250 will make its debut too...) Anyone want to join us is more than welcome.

Hi all, Myself Lee Christian & John will be heading in the same direction at about the same time. Have recently discovered an even better road than the A7 that runs parallel to it thru Newcastleton & Bonchester Bridge rejoining the A7 at Hawick. Tes

Terry - Any chance of me and Darren meeting you lot at Scotch corner (or somewhere) like previous years? As you know, we're coming up from Northampton and will do a stint on either the A1 or M1 to get some miles in. I want to do the second leg on some decent roads though and if you know of something better than the A7 I want to try it!
What time are you leaving? - don't want to miss the karting if i can help it...
Mark
ps what bike is Christian on? Might be able to keep up if he's not on the rocket ship

Hi Mark, D'ont know yet which bike Christian will be on d'ont think it matters much, he's almost as quick on his 650 Dakar as he is on his FJR 1300. No time fixed as yet, could I suggest perhaps 11.00 in Richmond market place, its only 5 miles from scotch corner and handy for most. Forgot to include Chris Eddie in our party. Sorry Chris

Hmmm... I'm happy to do that but if the pace hots up then I might have to ask Mr Lees if he can pop Angela on the back of him! Not very experienced in twos up when cracking on.. (Don't worry Tel, she has a soft grip!)

Hello
I have not managed to get out of the Friday / Saturday evening arrangements that were in place before I bought the Cat but if possible would still like to tag along for the run on Saturday.
Can someone give me an idea of the where and when you are all leaving from on the Saturday. Im not fussed over which route, if there is two routes running, it would just be good to come along put a few faces to names, have a bit of fun and enjoy the ride. Cheers in advance.

Hi Fraz
You are more than welcome to come along for the ride. Be great to see you there.
I suspect a meet up time no later than 9am with a departure time approx 9.15am (not decided whether our first stop will be a fuel stop or not - watch this space)
Meeting HERE
We plan to at least meet up at lunch time again where folks can decide if they want to change group I guess.
I'm going to be doing a try-out on Monday 25th (anyone want to come along???) to suss out the longer route, fuel stops, coffee stops, photo stops, and liaising with WKW to devise a slightly shorter one.
Cheers

Richmond Meeting!
Afternoon all,
Just a message to let you know that myself and Robcat won't be meeting you in Richmond on Friday morning as we are staying over in Carlisle on Thursday night (this is to make my riding up on the Ninja do-able hopefully with a stop off). Also, I wouldn't want to hold all of you up on the ride up from Richmond .
We are planning to arrive at the digs about 3.30 on Friday and are both looking forward to seeing everyone for the weekend, Rob is especially excited about the karting as he won the Iron Man challenge last time he went to karting.
See you all on Friday
Linz and Rob
