Decisions decsions
Hi all,
since 'cat number one got written off by unobservant car driver i have been looking for a new bike. I have found 3 to chose from: P reg 22k miles, 51 reg 19k miles, 51 reg 10k miles. The p reg is £500 cheaper, the other two are similar prices. My question is does the mileage matter or should i look for how well its looked after(s/h mots etc? also with a bike does the number of owners matter? one of the lower mileage bikes has 8 owners which seems like a lot. Is that just the way with bikes or does i mean its a dog?!
any thoughts?
p.s pics from the big mac look nice, shame i live so far south!

Re: Decisions decsions
I'd say condition is important and perhaps the first consideration, but there's quite a step up in mileage in the examples you give. Given that the suspension can get soggy and there's always the fear of second gear issues (although that can be a random event that may happen irrespective of whether the bike's well maintained) I'd probably be tempted first by the lower mileage option if it's tidy, genuine and affordable. Mind you, if that's the one that's had 8 owners I might be nervous.
What about the colours?... we all know that red/black/white is faster so that may also be an issue....

Re: Decisions decsions
The chances are if it's got high mileage it's been used to commute maybe which would lead to me to believe it would of been serviced regularly etc etc
Personally I'd be looking for a good conditioned bike
