First day of thundercat... Empty First day of thundercat...

Post  pipersam Mon Aug 16 2010, 21:22

What a day i've had! Went to pick up the cat from Poole this morning. Felt amazing for the first 15 miles, joined a dual carriageway and opened her up for the first time, 3,4,5k on the revs then 6k..... "splutter splutter splutter", engine dies and I have to stop. Started again straight away no problem. Rode off thinking must be some crap in the bottom of the tank, but no, it happens again, 70 mph/6k revs - cuts out. fuming fuming fuming I couldnt believe it!!! Crawled back to bike garage and they tested it on the dyno and luckily it happens again. Turns out a spark plug was completely rusted through underneath the insulation.

So second time round and the bike is as sweet as pie. I am so happy with it and its such a nice bike to ride. The only thing that I have noticed is a vibration between 6-7k. Is this normal?

I will upload some pics tomorrow maybe (if i don't go riding all day again!)

Regards,

Sam.

Nothing like picking up the new bike for the first time. Glad the problem was fixed quickly.

Yes - a bit direct answer! As mentioned elsewhere can be advantageous, otherwise somewhat annoying. As long as you don't get numb hands or feet (no pun intended here). It is normal for a vibe at those revs', if you get numb hands then the carbs might need a seeing to.

Go at 12k and you don't hear or feel the vibrations. Wink
Seriously....carbs may need balancing.

Enjoy the bike.
Cheers

Got mine from Moore Speed Racing in Poole. Have you looked on ebay, biketrader or MCN?

Regards Sam.
