Mornin all
Hi there,
My name is Owen and I'm new around here...
I passed my test around a month ago and got myself a Thundercat. It's a '96 with 30k miles on it for £1400k with a few extra bits and bobs. In the first couple of weeks I got new tyres, then a scottoiler and brake pads, and a little service. I'm planning on working my way around the bike to get all the systems tip top, then taking it easy a bit. I'm hoping that joining up here will help me with all the usual newbie questions so I'll most likely be reading a lot and contributing little...for now.
Nice to e-meet you all,
Owen

Re: Mornin all
I suppose that's the next step, isn't it? Not that exciting - Red white and black, everything is standard as far as I know.
Then I suppose I list the faults, and you guys tell me I need to replace the engine (false neutral when ragging. Solution - Don't rag it).
Nice to see there are a few active users here, I wondered if it would be a dead zone or not.
Does anyone know anything about that corbin seat for sale? I just picked up a standard seat for £25 with the intention of getting it reupholstered with nice foam and something sticky to cover. The one on the bike is a bit slidier than I would like.

Dead Zone?? Dead sarcastic, dead p!ss takey (? is takey a word?) and actually dead helpful as well mate, i'm technically as much use as a trap door on a canoe but many clever people on here!
And don't play it down - Black/Red/White is the nicest, most sort after, faster than all the others colour scheme, no biased just fact!! Haha

Re: Mornin all
Ha ha, right! I just assumed old bike = inactive site, y'know?
Sarcasm I can deal with, it's almost as important as caffeine or oxygen.
It's a comfort to know that there are loads of other people with waaaay more experience with this machine just floating around ready to help me out. If it were a pushbike I'd be fine (used to be a bike spannerer/builder) but the addition of a fairing and loads of noise makes me a bit timid.

Well,m I did have a quick poke around before I signed up, but you can't see the majority of the forum unless you're signed up. Still I accept the slapped wrist for questioning the popularity of the board.
Photos to follow. Off to shoot the Bristol balloon glow on the bike tonight so I'll try to take some fancy schmancy shots while I'm at it.

Re: Mornin all
Hi Owen,
Belated welcome to the site.
Congratulation on passing your test and acquiring a Thundercat. Excellent choice.
And you've fitted a Scottoiler. Another good move in my book.
However, shame on you for doubting the activity on this site!
Actually this year we've probably had more new members join the site than for many a year. Long may it continue.
And since you mentioned the subject I thought  it might be worth praising the contributions folk make, however small or irrelevant!
This is a Thundercat site because most members own or have owned one in the past, but many, possibly the majority, have moved on to other bikes. We hang around to offer advice and keep in touch. I stay on because I like the folk on here and enjoy the social side, which remains a cornerstone of the site. Long may it continue :whoop: and I hope we'll see plenty of new faces on the ride-outs.
Most of the post on your thread are from new members so it's good to see folk supporting one another. I think the site is maturing. Aren't we all! There's a wealth of experience and knowledge on riding, and a whole range of bikes not just the Thundercat, and a good influx of new members. I think the site's doing OK. What do you think?
Rather than hijack your thread I'm going to put this in a new one. So if anyone wants to make comments please post them here.
Ride safely and enjoy the Thundercat.
Chris
