Hi All
Just a quick hello really,
I'm in the process of getting through my test, I passed the Mod 1 on the 3rd and have the Mod 2 booked for the 27th. I've agreed to buy a P reg 'cat from a mate in London and my intructor has offered to ride it back for me next week if I drive him down there!
All in all I'm very excited about the prospect of getting on the road and have no doubt I'll be bothering you all with stoopid noob questions about bikes!
Thank
Alex

Re: Hi All
Hello and Welcome to the Gang
Good luck with the rest of the test and great choice of bike I hope you have many, many miles of enjoyment once you get it.
Plenty folk on here able to help you out if you have a question.... and remember.... we've all been there, so no question is a stupid one if you don't know the answer

What sun? Its rained since I got here 4 hours ago :( Mind you I have been about to do a bit of sightseeing before the drizzle set in. I only got slightly wet, but the bike is having a Weymouth shower
Came in via Bridport, can't remember if it was the A35 or the B3052 via Sidmouth that I had some fun.

Re: Hi All
Hi again, wasn't sure where to post this so i'll put it in here
I went to London yesterday on the train and came back today with my Thundercat! Sooooo pleased! It was a bit of a baptism of fire riding back to london and the weather was awful but well worth it : )
She's a bit rough around the edges but I know my mate had looked after her and he did me a good deal:
Outside his pub this morning on Euston Road
On my driveway:)

Re: Hi All
Congrats mate nice colours. Looks like a bit of wash/wax & elbow grease is required unless you are not as mental as me & have to have the bike showroom clean

Re: Hi All
Fantastic.......you're officially a Thundercat'er
Intersesting seat & mirror decor you've got yourself there.
The standard mirrors are only for checking fly splat on your elbows anyway so I guess these might be an improvement.
Enjoy.

Re: Hi All
That will scrub up sound, is that a custom seat or gaffer tape on it? hard to make out!
And good choice of helmet as well as bike - HJC IS-16 scratch like mine, swear by that internal sun visor now, don't know what i'd have done if bought one without!!

Re: Hi All
I was a little unsure of the mirror arrangement but having used them they do OK. It is gaffer tape on the seat! lol! There was a small hole in it so he got a bit artistic....
Its needs a good jetwash and some tlc to get rid of years of london smog abuse but I'm happy with is. Funnily enough another friend of a friend has a 96 Thundercat which he only wants £200 for so I'm probably going to buy it and swap the bits from it which are in better nic (such as the gaffer taped seat!)
Just a quick question, at low revs when pulling away or in 2nd the engine is quite spluttery. It smooths out pretty much straight away and is smooth all the way up through the revs but it can be quite annoying. Is this somthing simple such as spark plugs or is it somthing I should get checked? Forgive my ignorance, im the least mechanically minded person I know!

Re: Hi All
Nice bike, nearly the same colours as mine.
Be warned, be careful with the jetwash, especially around the wheel bearings. Stevecats rear bearing went earlier this year after he washed it.I'm not saying that caused the problem but I never use mine on the bike. Just a sponge and a bit of elbow grease! At least you can see what your getting rid of.. eventually.

Re: Hi All
Great, you were able to get your 'Cat. Colour is the same as mine. I recognise that muck on the swingarm, seems to get there in no time :(
I'd also caution against the jetwash, it gets the muck off OK, but I found the paint was coming off too and the corrosion has set in
Check the plugs and the air filter first, the carbs might need adjusting.
What a day to pick it up though, we haven't had rain here since the 16th May and then it got a bit wet yesterday!

Re: Hi All
It may be that a good service is required but it may be as simple as chain tension too slack or tight. I have found there is a sweet spot on my bike where when the chain tension is perfect gearchanges are so smooth & pickup judder is minimimal.
