Why?
Why is it that whenever you are in one of those situations when you cannot ride a motorbike for a few days that you appear to be stalked by the bloody things!? This serves only to add to your frustration.
For example a couple of weeks ago I was away with my family on a weeks holiday. As we got in the car outside the house to set off a group of bikers were forming up at the bottom of the road, about to set off for a ride out. I could hear the engines roar into life as they fired up, the riders' minds no doubt filled with the anticipation of a cracking days riding ahead...the weather was perfect for biking too, just rubbing things in that tiny bit more.
I watched them pulling away and just stood there and waited until the sound of the last bike had faded from earshot. Then I got into my diesel car, loaded up with my family and about 40 tons of junk to headed off myself for our camping holiday up in the frozen north.
As we trudged up the A1 bikes seemed to wizz past rgularly and when we stopped for a break two bikes, a Thundercat and a FZ1s Fazer...the two bikes I own, were parked up outside the service entrance. I'm convinced its' all an evil plot!
Then as we finally got closer to our destination streams of bikes started pouring past in the opposite direction. Many of them beautiful classics. We were stopping near a town called Rothbury in Northunberland, a biker haunt in a similar vein as Matlock Bath and it was Bank Holiday Monday. There were hundreds of them!
Finally I thought I had escaped as we pulled into the campsite. But no, as I was setting up I heard the distinctive bark that could only come from a 350LC on spannies. NOOOO!!!! Its sounded fan-bloody-tastic and my eyes just followed its' path as the rider pulled off the campsite. White and blue...the best colours and in pristine condition.
I really love camping....

Re: Why?
Lol , I had a similiar experience recently when I had to drive a LWB Mercedes Sprinter Van all the way to the South of France - the weather was fantastic and there were so many groups of motorcyclists on the motorway . There was me in a big white van - I really missed my motorbikes for those few days ! I know where you are coming from. :(

Re: Why?
Radar this happens to me on a regular basis
on the drive to work seems like thousands come out to torment me, then on a break I might nip over to the park and thousands more fly by...I think its sods law and its rule 991 sub para 4.4.7. car bound bikers will be shown what they are missing
the other thing that happens is while I work the sun shines then I get a day off it blows a howling gale and lashes down with rain
so on sunday I finished work and went out, it was going to be showers (and wet the next day) so I thought stuff it I'm going...............they never said god would use a power shower and give me miles of 6in standing water to plough thro.......... that was fun ...loved the plumes of water arching above me
did not love the state of the bike upon my return

Yeah, I've had this torment too when sent off to 'exotic' places on business for weeks on end - ah but it's so great getting back
They do say absence makes the heart go Honda (yeah I know)

Well it's really funny you should say that , but I did toy with the idea of sticking a bike in the back but it would have been a bit of a logistical nightmare Lol @renault espace man - I did have a renault espace years ago and thats why my name is espaceman because thats what I use on ebay too and I couldn't be bothered to change it so I'm espaceman on a few things as it's easier to remember one name for everything !! Very good !!!
