Gretting from Ottawa Canada
Hello all,
This was a goldmine to find a sight for the Thundercat fans.
I've been riding a 1974 Suzuki T500 Titan for donkeys ages and have finaly decided to come out of the cave and join the modern age of rocket bikes.
In Canada the Thundercat goes by the boring name of the yzf 600r, and I,m about to pick up a 1997 Thundercat this weekend. Yaaaaahoooo!!!
Any tips/advice what to watch out for, and what to do first?
Pics of my old but beautiful Suzuki, and the soon to be Thundercat included, if i can figure out how to do it-being a neanderthal and all!

Welcome to the site - well the FIRST thing to do is .............................. post up a pic we want to see what colour it is
Whereabouts in Canada are you? Enjoy the site - they're as mad as a wagonload of monkeys but you will find some sane ones among us if you look very hard

Hi there and welcome.
T500 wow that is a blast from the past, my first big bore bike was the GT750 same year as yours.
Congrats on your YZF600R. Probably want to check over for rust and if you can check the gearbox to make sure it stays in second. Other costly repairs would be the exhaust and rear shock.
Don't know if you have blended fuel there, if so and the bike has been standing you may be in for a carb clean.
You will find a performance difference and the handling won't be anything like your T500 (if that was anything as bad as the GT). Brakes should be sharp and way more effective than the Suz, maybe try using two fingers when operating the front brake. When I upgraded I found I was pulling too hard on the lever.
The engine is pretty bullet proof, mine is the same age as the one you are getting and I'm about to clock 100 000 kms.

Hello and Welcome to the Gang
Great to see a more international members coming through - the more the merrier.... hope you enjoy the site
And as Suzie asked...... are you REALLY a ranger?? Wow!
As far as the bike goes I'm sure there will be some more technical advice from the other guys, however, 2nd gear can sometimes have issues (it jumps out of gear when pushing it in 2nd)... so that's something to look out for when trying a Thundercat. Don't expect the headlight to be any better than a candle.... HOWEVER - they're fantastic bikes and I'm sure you'd really, really have a lot of fun and enjoyment out of it.
Hope to see pics real soon

Hi and welcome mate.
I see the ladies were first to say hello.
The hear the exotic accent and dream of far away lands, bears, beavers and other wildlife.
Trust you'll enjoy the bike.
You'll need to post up an arty picture in the park.
Cheers

Re: Gretting from Ottawa Canada
Hello and welcome.
Pretty cool to have someone on here from so far afield. Not made a trip to Canada yet but I've met some great Canadians on my travels over the years. One day I'll get to see your (supposedly) wonderful country.
My Cat's been great to me in the nine months I've owned her. Hope yours is just as much a delight to own.
