Dilemma
So... Went to Padgetts in Batley yesterday to test ride an R1 that I liked the look of. Took it out for a good old blast and enjoyed it. But.... Finding it hard to see the value in it. If I sold mine i would probably get around £1200 for it so I would have to drop another £1800ish into it to replace. Mine has 21000 miles on it and the R1 has 22000. The performance wasn't amazingly different though it was a lot sharper and more focused..But it's an R1.... Tough call this one.

Re: Dilemma
Well you know what I'm going to say before I say it....however.....
KEEP THE ACE!!!!
Ach, you'll probably take the R1, after all its newer and slicker, etc but I love the Ace (I am, however, biased!)

You only live once, you may as well get the R1
Re: Dilemma
The R1 has a wonderful blue
But i think you have a happy problem - to choose between two great bikes
However your decision is: Congratulations to a great bike

Re: Dilemma
I would go for an R1, but go for a later model with the LED rear light. 2002 in silver and black.
Keep the ACe if you can afford to as well - £1200 is giving it away! I kept my Thundercat when I bought my FZ1S recently as couldn't bare to sell a perfect bike for peanuts
Have a couple of summers on the R1 and then return to the trusty Ace.
My brother-in-law had a lateish 2000 Thundercae which he worshiped, bored everybody silly about and rode everywhere, including track days. He traded it in back in 2005 for a brand new Blade. 3000 miles on the Blade now and he hardly ever talks about it. Funny old world.

Re: Dilemma
Keeping the ace... Can't justify the extra expense and risk the R1 being a dog when I know mine is spot on... But it will be in the back of my mind until it goes!

Re: Dilemma
Personally i think you have made a good choice keeping the ace. It is a great bike in perfect order & a lot rarer than an r1.
