Sorry to hear of your loss Pete.

The loss of a pet when you have had them for many years is painfull indeed. Funny how they weedle their way into your heart and become such a treasured part of the family.

But when they are suffering so much, it is a kindness to let them go. I know that won't help either of you at the moment, but time will heal your hurt and I know you'll both have many fond memories to look back on.

So sorry to hear about 'Harry'.
I remember having to take our doggie a few years ago and although it was painful for us to have to take him it was the right way to end his suffering.
You'll have lots of happy memories of him and that's what to remember.
Give Fred (and yourself) a hug from all the dog lovers.

It may 'only' be a dog but anything that has spent that much time in your family, generated that many memories, given and received that much love is always going to be sad to lose. One of the responsibilities we have as pet owners is to make these tough decisions on their behalf when the time is right. Good on you for that, but very sorry for your loss.

Oh Pete, so sorry to hear about Harry :( - you and Fred must be devastated. I know how much I grieved for each of my girls when we lost them, and whilst I still have other dogs, you can never replace each unique character and it breaks your heart when they go ..... I'm sure Harry will always hold a very special place in your heart.... and whilst this may sound a bit gushy, he'll be waiting there at Rainbow Bridge for you and Fred in many years to come when your time comes to pass. Remember the good times and never be embarrassed to grieve about the loss of such a massive part of your family. Bigs hugs - thinking of you both xxx

Really sorry to hear about Harry ... give my love to Fred it really is devastating to lose a pet especially a dog. They love you unconditionally and you can always count on them for a rapturous welcome home even if you've only been hanging out the washing. As Fi says - you have others but they are all individuals = I lost one at 12 years (i also had to take the decision to have her put to sleep due to cancer - the hardest decision i've had to make) and one at 11 years to a form of undiagnosed diabetes (my only consolation was apparently it wouldn't have been detectable without a specific test) and my current ones are both 13 this year and yes, the Binks may smell, snore and continuously bump into things but she's my shadow, as was Snoopy & mitzi was a cantankerous yorkie who had 2 teeth left at the end, a dodgy ticker and a bad attitude with a healthy dose of disrespect and independance about her.

You'll always miss him but he'll always have a special place in your hearts x

Sorry to hear that mate Crying or Very sad

I work with the search dogs in RAF plus I have my own dogs. Even though my dogs that I work with don't live me it's the worst feeling in the world having them put too sleep because we go through so much together.

Same old cliche though, time is a good healer and keep you chin up clink

Hi Pete & Fred,

Sorry to hear your sad news. I hope you're consoling yourselves with the knowledge that Harry had some great times and you will always remember them.
