Re: off out
Just got back from a blast to Hawes and although the roads are a bit wet it was a great trip out.. Funny thing though when I got there, I was the only one with anything that even resembled a sportsbike. Parked outside the cafe opposite the chippy and there was a host of lads on their off roaders going green laning, a BMW GS and a Tenere with my thunderace sitting in the middle. I went and got a cup of tea and a sandwich, came out and there was another thunderace parked right next to mine in the same colour... I looked around, stayed for half an hour, but whoever owned it never came forward to say hi. Bit weird as there arn't many about in summer never mind on a winter blast in the middle of the dales...

Re: off out
Not too bad a ride today, like all my rides since end November I went to Newlands Corner which is just under 30 miles away. What a difference a week makes, today the sports bikes were out (started off sunny ), last week only the dirt bikes and the vintage club were out.
Still some snow/ice on the side of the road, but conditions way better than last weekend - although I kept getting the feeling the backend was not tracking the road as well as it should have.
This may well be a 'hangover' from the near miss I had the previous week. Thought I was being really smooth (easy on the controls), line my self up for an overtake and as I'm about to do it the cars' right indicator comes on , I slow down making sure I get off the paint, then the brake lights come on a second or so later :bom: I don't know what I did, but the next thing the rear looses grip < unprintable language followed> managed to recover though and avoid getting tangled with the car.
Today I noticed one of the pins holding the rear brake pads in place had nearly worked its way loose -oh no, not the dreaded caliper seize demon back to haunt me again!!
I know it is dangerous and aging the bike no end by going out, but it was really worth it.

Just have the ace now, sold the cat to a pal.. Next weekend weather permitting if you fancy a run? Meet at Squires and head out from there?

I have a sneaky feeling somehow that they are related, sure does test a few things
Testament to the 'cat and the 2CT's for recovering from what, looking back at times, has seemed the impossible. Possibly the idiot that got us all into the mess in the first place may have had something to do with the recovery, but that doesn't count
