Hey there....
Hi all,
Nice to see there are quite a few of you in my area.
Do any of you lot ride out in winter?
I got my cat in may this year after passin' my test, and love the bike and biking so much that i really cant wait until next summer. Need to get some more miles in- even if it is a bit chilly!
Great forum by the way......

Re: Hey there....
Hi Woody,
Welcome.
There's no need to stop in winter. I ride pretty much all year round, preferring not to get wet or get caught in snow though.
Riding techniques change with the 'new' hazards, more to look out for and avoid -all adds to your riding experience.
If getting cold becomes a problem, get some thermal wear, and maybe some heated grips. Pinlock or FogCity visor insert, a can of ACF50 will help ward off the ravages of winter (salt, crud etc), and FST Pro for the days when its 0-5C and the bike coughs and splutters. There you go.. winter what winter?
Welcome.

Re: Hey there....
Wow......what a fab welcome.
Steve, thanks for the advice and the shopping list.
I'm in the middle of nowhere, halfway between newark and grantham.
Fantastic roads round here, but i dont like the ice either! Dont mind the rain if i get caught out in it though....
You all seem like a friendly bunch

Hey.... you're good! You're wrong with long ben, but only just. I'm in dry doddington, next village along.
Yeah lots of fab roads round here, but you've gotta watch the mud from all the tractors.
This is prob a silly question, but what's the shrewsbury toy run?

Re: Hey there....
Hey woody you're near me then - i'm just south of boston off the a52 - regular on that stretch of road as far as grantham. Shrewsbury Toy Run is the toy run for the shrewsbury area - most places do egg runs easter and toy runs christmas you take a toy and all go to local hospital or whatever.
Our local one is i believe this sunday run by I think - MAG/Boston Bike Club - im sure if you google MAG or toy runs it'll bring something up and i think pete cards does them so there may be one nearer to you.

Re: Hey there....
Hi Woody,
Nice to hear you think we're a friendly bunch - I think so too!
I'm in Lincs just north of Caister. As has been said - good to have another local rider join the fold.
I think summer 2010 just took a turn for the better for you. There's plenty of ride-outs you can join with the Taste of Lincolnshire on your doorstep, so I hope you can make some of them.
In the winter months things tend to quieten down a bit, although postings on the site are, so far, much better than last winter. However it's a good time to ask any questions you have and plan for next Spring - the anticipation.... :whoop:
So welcome to the site.
Chris
