First topic message reminder :

Hi All

In a bizarre moment of organisation I've provisionally booked Broadmeadows House in Yarrrowford just outside Selkirk again since Wee Mac 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 were brilliant and the digs were great value, stunning and gave us a great base.

CHECK IT OUT - HERE

Selkirk and Galashiels aren't too far away if you want to book your own accommodation - most of dad's army stay near here every year.

In April 2012 most of us stayed in Broadmeadows and a few stayed at the other local accommodation which was just down the road (unless you follow Cath back - sorry Cath).  If there is over-spill from Broadmeadows then we can certainly use this again.

In April 2013 most of us stayed in Broadmeadows and a few stayed at other accommodation in Selkirk.

Read up on WeeMac 2018 HERE
Some rooms are doubles only, some are SuperKing with the option to split into singles (twin room) and some are dedicated twin rooms so the singles will need to share.

So what do I need to know - I NEED people to commit on this page to get your name on the priority list if you want to stay at Broadmeadows.  The first 18 and possibly up to 22 will (unless I hear otherwise) have their space guaranteed when they pay their initial £20 deposit to hold the accommodation. Everyone else will be on the reserve list for Broadmeadows in the order they signed up.

By end of May 2018 - £20 deposit
By end of September 2018 - a further £20 deposit
By end of Feb 2019 - a further £90

Total = £130 (note this doesn't account for the full food and drinks (and any entertainment) bill which I expect to be around another £30 or so)

We've had drop-outs every year so those places will be filled in order of the sign-up list.

Costs - I've worked out approximate costs as follows

Big Hoose (3 night stay) will be a cost of approx £150 - we NEED to fill this  (10 spaces)
Rest of Broadmeadows (3 night stay) will be a cost of approx £150 (4 + 4 + 2 = 10 spaces)
There are two additional beds that they can supply for our use and this will be same cost. I've been in them twice and they are well comfy.

At the moment we've only provisionally booked 18 spaces but can hopefully book more if required.

This cost will pay for your accommodation and supplies for breakfast.
We then buy supplies for evening meals and drinks add on any shortfall or subtract any overpayment and then split this between everyone.

Cost vary but in 2015 the grand total (initial total £100) was about £147 (we had some empty spaces though)
I'm hoping the grand total will be not more than £150 for a three night stay - that includes all food and drink Smile- Dinner, bed and breakfast and costs for 2016 were very similar.

It really is a 5 star stay for a 3 star cost Wink

I NEED people on the list to confirm and pay a initial deposit £20 PP by end of May so I'll be looking for people to get their deposits to me before then to REALLY book your place.
You can't please all the people all the time but we'll do our best.

If you have to cancel you will only lose your deposit if we can't find a replacement.
If lots of people cancel then we've got a problem that will have to be shared - but hopefully that won't happen.

Hopefully everyone will get the right room but there might need to be a bit of jiggery-pokery in the sleeping arrangements if you know what I mean.

The RIDEOUT is a TWO day event with one on Saturday 4th May 2019 and one on Sunday 5th May 2019.
Please note that folks who wish to attend the event are welcome to organise their own accommodation.

Will also be looking for volunteer chefs, assistant chefs nearer the time.  Everyone needs to muck in though.

SIGNUP

e.g.
Rosco (Ross) + 1
require a double or two singles depending on who I can talk into attending.

Bravepill6 (Euan) - Might be my +1 or he might be looking for a ride.
require a single whether he's beeacthing for Rosco or not.

The MASTER LIST is HERE which I'll edit as folks sign up and send me some dough.

Cheers
Rosco

Hi all

Ian and I were down Moffat way a couple of weeks ago and I thought it might be nice to put together a wee preview video to wet your appetites for next weekend:

I will be car bound, so I won't join the ride outs, although it would be fun to try keeping up in a Focus diesel!

The video looks brilliant Gill and makes me more jealous about also being in a car but will look forward to hearing all about the ride outs in the evenings.

See you all on Friday.

Cheers for the reminder Gill. One of my top roads to ride that Moffat road with Dukes pass my favourite. More technical the better.

Oh bring on Friday as I'll be on it again. Read in a recent mag, the B709 is good also, leads from the A7 and you can branch off of it to get on the Moffat rd just north of St Mary's Loch.

We can definitely compare settings Steve, although I do have a wee confession.  That footage was shot using my new GoPro Hero7 Black which has the most amazing image stabilisation.   Part of that single track road was incredibly bumpy but the camera makes it look super smooth.  You can see the front of the bike bobbing up and down like a yoyo though  Shocked

Hi all. Thanks for a lovely weekend again.

The weather behaved itself for the two ride outs then spoilt the ride home. Downpours, sleet and a little sun made the 200 odd miles bearable.

Arrived home safe and sound just after 12:30.

Caught up with Nathan around Corbridge but I had to fuel up and he carried on. Hopefully he got home safe and not too much later after me.

Thanks again for Ross and Dave's eventful, in a good way, rides. Great roads and pleasant company. And to Steve the chef for Saturday's stuffed chicken and chilli.

Right off to jet wash the bike down ready for work tomorrow.

Same again next year??

Say safe.

It has been a fantastic weekend as always with brilliant company, excellent team work for cooking/preparing and cleaning up.

Ewan and I got home about 3:40 and Rob had arrived 10 mins before us.

I hope everyone has got home safe and we are already looking forward to the next one.

Hi all

Arrived home safe and sound yesterday after hitting rain, hail and high winds, Wayne almost had a slight altercation with the police on his ride earlier but Mr Plod must have been at the end of his shift and couldn't be bothered.

Cracking weekend, roads were superb, company fantastic and the food was great. Usual banter and a perfect weekend. Thanks to Ross & Dave for planning it and everyone who chipped in and helped with my personal kitchen nightmare.

Wayne and Rick also loved it and will be back, here's to the next one!

Wow......That was arguably the best one yet.

Everyone who came along mucked in and really made things run smoothly (on the rideouts and in the hoose) so thanks to you all.

The caricaturist Edd had as much fun as we did and his creations were fab.

He's asked if any of you would like to give some feedback then post it up here - https://www.facebook.com/EddTravers/reviews/

I think / hope everyone enjoyed it......I know I did.

Will get us booked up for next year and let y'all know.

Cheers
Rosco.

I've been home an hour, just abouts.  Been a long day today with the satNav playing silly persons, Initially I went along with it but after 6 hours and still being in Lincs started getting a bit much. 11 hours after setting off and 120 miles more than planned, I'm home, was a tiring day! Trip total a tad under 1600 miles.

Had a minor scare this morning after setting off, the oil low light cae on and before I could start to think where I'd be able to get some to top off it went off and not been back on since. It's due a service now anyway.

Am totally shattered now.   I saw Chris last night and he told me Nathan got home got home fine.

I think everyone got cold and wet after crossing the border, hope you managed to stay dry at least.

A big thank you all, ride organisers/leaders through 'the chief cooks and bottle washers', everyone chipped in - thank you.

Steve you mentioned a personal kitchen nightmare, you really pulled the rabbit out the hat mate, lastminute.com and you stepped up to the plate great

Was fantastic to meet up with those I know again and to meet those whom I've not previously known.
