Re: Anyone recognise this bike?
Thanks for the heads up on the rear lamp
None of the guys n gals said a thing all day ah well.
As for turning to on a "Bracing" day . . . Well there are young lads and lasses among us who have served their (our) country well and to the best of their ability.
I'm not talking WW1 or WW2 , but more recent conflicts . . . Falklands 1982, Gulf Mk1 , Bosnia, Kosavo, Gulf Mk2 & Afghanistan.
They come home not only with phyisical injuries and disabilities, but with battle stress, PTSD and other problems.
Then there are the close family that also have to deal with either the loss of a loved one or deal with the phyisical, mental problems a loved one returns home with too.
If my turning out on a less than perfect day and collect just 50p to help make their life that bit more bearable . . . Then I count that as a good and worth while day.
Service not Self.

Re: Anyone recognise this bike?
50p? Can't believe that. There were a few collectors around tho hopefully they've collected a decent amount.
Hats off for braving the elements Tel!

Re: Anyone recognise this bike?
Fair play to u Tel, every penny counts & like Ellie says I'm sure between you all that you collected a decent amount towards the guys who give their all for our country.
It's a sad world we live in & I was a little concerned that the unattended collection box on your bike could be 'lifted' by some scrote looking for his next fix, Ellie tried texting you to see if you fancied a coffee etc... Is there somewhere online we can donate instead please?

Re: Anyone recognise this bike?
Nooooe,
Got more than 50p of course. . . and so did all the others there today.
It was an example of IF that were all I was to collect.
Generally the Great British public (and some tourists - yup some were there today), are very good.
My day was made when a mentaly handicaped young chap came and made a big fuss about my Army flag.
His mum explained to me he collects flags, young chap went on to list all the flags he had, . . . but not that one (looking longingly at the one you see in the photo).
As it happens, I had an old and somewhat worn spare in my top box. So I opened the box and gave it to him.
His face of sheer delight fair put a lump in my throat
His folks wanted to pay me for the flag. When I said no, they looked at the collection box . . . I quickly explained they need not and should not feel obliged as wee lads face was payment enough.
They still bunged a couple of quid in the box. Result all around me thinks.

Yes Nick ther is.robertcains wrote:... Is there somewhere online we can donate instead please?
If you click on the "Lest we forget" icon in my sig, it takes you to the RBLR home page. Top left hand side of that home page you will see a widget flashing "Help us Help them" . . Donate Now.
That re-directs you to the RBL main donation page . . . Don't be surprised by the amount shown . . . click on the down arrow, select other and enter the amount you wish to donate.
Thank You.
PS: I know Ellie's brother serves . . . if you were /are thinking of joining the Riders Branch . . . for the moment DO NOT use the online way of joining, it's for the time being got gremlins.
If you or anyone would like to join, or like further info please contact me via PM - email - or if you have my number . . TXT or call.
Re: Anyone recognise this bike?
Sorted
Will give it some serious consideration about joining next year, it's all a bit hectic at the moment with the bikes currently off the road, sorting the wedding & setting up business again after being made unexpectedly redundant etc

Re: Anyone recognise this bike?
Thank you for your donation Nick.
No before anyone asks - I cannot see how much anyone puts in the pot, nor is it any of my business . . . just a big thanks for anything you can spare in these hard times and as Nick pointed out "Every penny counts".
I was sorry to hear of your redundancy. Not good news for anyone in the current financial climate.
So, . . . you're striking out on your own ? Good on you mate, I wish you every success. Though having seen your work first hand I'm confident you'll have em queuing at the door for your craftsmanship
Peeps on here would do well to remember your business number (which I'm sure will appear in your sig at some time )
regards
Tel

Re: Anyone recognise this bike?
Yeh, it's either a CBF600 or maybe the bigger CBF1000. Detuned fireblade and hornet600 engines. Probably ace fuel economy and shouldn't be gutless either.
