New helmet required
First topic message reminder :
Bit of long shot, but you never know.
After a "wee incident" I now require a new helmet. I had a Shoei XR1100 and it was very comfortable even when wearing my specs. Only thing I disliked was that I found it quite noisy.
Looking about over internet last few days it seems that some folks thought that it was a quiet helmet which I found strange until I read that some bike and helmet combinations dont work too well together!!!?
So in short can anyone recommend a quiet helmet for the cat which will take specs comfortably and still has the sharp 5 star rating?
Cheers
Billy

Re: New helmet required
Handy for everyone else in the group, since you'll attract all the wasps.
It's also a handy thread this. I'm needing a new bunnet and the priority this time is how quiet it is. The Arai I have at the moment is a nightmare, even with plugs in it reduces the roar to an almost tolerable rumble that starts to grate on the nerves after a couple of hours.
Top contender so far is the Shoei Multi Tec.

Re: New helmet required
I quite like the blue and white one: http://www.helmetcity.co.uk/Shoei-Multitec-Shearwater-TC2_AQQP0.aspx
I'll wait a bit though, just so long as I buy it before the prices get hiked up next spring.

Re: New helmet required
Is there such a thing as a quiet helmet, really? So many variables - exactly how it fits to the head (it may fit two people just right, but they'll still be different gaps to let the wind in), how tall you are, how the bike pushes the air onto you, how you're angled on the bike, crosswinds and so on. I'm wearing a caberg 407 and it's a tad quieter than my previous HJC (which whistled over the top air vent, too) but it's not quiet by any stretch. But, when the wind is in just the right direction with relation to me and the bike, it suddenly goes almost peaceful in there. I suspect for the average person, the screen on the cat pushes air around the base of a helmet. I've found if i hunch my shoulders or put a hand over the base of my lid, the noise reduces. Not that I can ride in that position.

Try a helmet skirt . . . bit of a pain if yer putting yer lid on and off a lot, but for long journeys works a treat.
