My winter project.
First topic message reminder :
Hi I'm not sure if this is the place to do this but here goes. I bought my cat about a week ago and have enjoyed getting to grips with it
I'm going to hang on until the weather gets too bad to ride with confidence and then start the job of bringing the bike back to tip top condition :whoop:
I'll put some pics up once I have worked out how to get them off my phone
So keep checking and please comment if you think I'm going wrong anywhere.

Got cracking again after the lurgy :0(
Well today was polish and paint day. Polish the wheels and paint the callipers and fan holder.
First was remove any major marks from the wheels (god knows how you kurb bike wheels?)
For this I started with 80g then moved down through 180,320,600,1500 the last two grits I used soapy water.
Then I used autosol and a polishing mop to finish off and then masked them up ready for painting tomorrow ;0)
I then painted the callipers and could not resist unmasking the blue spot bits to see how they looked before the lacquer had dried
If you look carefully you can see the gold flek in the black I'm hoping the gold centred wavy discs will bring this out on them and the wheels.
As I said the wheels will be painted tomorrow hopefully so look out for another load of boring pics
Thanks for staying interested
Dave

Wheels painted.
Just a couple of the wheels painted. I'll unmask them tomorrow to see if I'm happy with them or not.
Tyres back on...
Makes the tyres look not black enough now..lol
Might try them on the bike tonight just to see

Re: My winter project.
Just wondering about the polished bit, have you laquered it or do you just polish and then leave it?
Great pics, I'm hoping to be moving again soon and getting a garage again so deffo need to get the Cat on the road

The polished bit is not lacquered because if you lacquer it it will eventually start to discolour and flake, where as if you leave it the more you polish it the better it gets ;0) (The down side is it's now a job for life)
Back on its wheels for a little while.
Could not resist it..also means I can sort out the garage again as it got a bit messy with bike bits everywhere.

Thanks Paul,
I'm just waiting for parts to arrive from the NEC show. ( G&B motorcycle spares better be legit) I will get on with painting the fairings etc.. but all that will go back on after all the mechanical stuff is sorted etc... Its all sort of snowballed and I'm now so far ahead that I'm going to be staring at a finished bike I can't ride and that will be hard to resist. Lets hope for an early summer next year
Re: My winter project.
Looking absolutely superb, I really hope to see this in the flesh on a ride out next year.

Few more bits done.
Gear change linkage and foot peg done and could not resist putting the callipers on to see what they look like.
I think the silver braided lines are gonna look great against all the black and grey of the bike It's all coming together nicely

Re: My winter project.
How did you get them foot peg brackets so shiny? They look like small foot mirrors.

I know I'm so sorry. I'll put it back to its original colour asap
Its first start up since the rebuild.
