Hello!
Hi all, I have just joined and thought it would be right of me to introduce myself,
So... a bit about myself, Im Simon im 32yrs old, work in security, love the gym and have always been in to cars, although i grew up around bikes as my dad was an bike instructor and from the age of about 11 i was riding bikes in fields.
6 months ago i decided cars are way to expensive to buy, mod and run so i bought myself a Yamaha DTR 125, after about a month of riding it i was bored, so booked my DAS which i have passed my mod 1 and have my mod 2 on monday, so i wanted to get a big bike for when i passed, i did lots of research and decided a cat would be the best bike for me.
So I bought and picked up a cat yesterday its a 1998 model in Black, Silver and Orange with 30k on the clock, its standard apart from a Fuel can, it looks and sound lovely! I just hope i pass my test on monday so i can take it for a ride
Well hope i haven't bored you all lol, i will post a pic when i get chance,
Simon.

Hi Sy,
Welcome to the site. Hope you've found us friendly here?
Congratulations on acquiring a :yzf: and in my fave colours! Or as Rosco puts it 'If Carlsberg did B&Q delivery bikes .....'
Good luck with the test on Monday. Let us know how it goes and if you do pass enjoy the silly grin for a while before jumping on the bike and taking her out for a spin. Take it easy, the 'cat can bite back. Take time to get used to her.
Chris

Re: Hello!
Hi guys and girls, thought i would let you all know i passed my mod 2 I passed with just 2 minors for observation.
So iv been out on the Cat and what a bike! Its so awesome! only problem im having is slow control in traffic and slow corners, anything under 3k revs and its not very smooth, on tick over it has a slight miss, when pulling away in slow traffic you have to give it lots of throttle and lots of clutch slipping or it will stall, same on corners, i find if its a second gear corner and i slow to the right speed it will splutter so again i have to slip the clutch, riding it at lows revs seems to be very on/off if you know what i mean? it could just be me not use to the bike, my friend thinks i should get it checked out as the carbs mite need balancing, it had new plugs 3k miles ago so i wouldn't of thought it could be that, any ideas anyone?
Thanks,
Simon.

Re: Hello!
Well done Simon.
Might be best to ask this in the Pit Stop, but my 2p worth.
Has the bike been standing for a while you know of? Sounds like there could be a blocked idle jet or two, 2-3k rpm sounds about right for the idle 'circuit'.
I had a similar issue, cured it by putting a few thou miles on it in a few days , next best I'd say would be try some cleaner stuff like Redex. What you don't want to be doing is stripping the carbs and trying to poke the dirt out.
Might be worth cleaning the air filter as well if you not sure if it has been done.

Re: Hello!
Thanks guys, Im not sure if its been standing or not, ive just ordered some new plugs, oil and filter, i will get some redex but do i use special bike redex or just the car stuff for a petrol engine?
once iv done all that ill take it for a blast down to cornwall or up to somerset and see if that clears it out, if not down to my local bike garage i shall go to let them have a look,
Cheers guys,
Simon.

The car stuff for carbed engines (not the injector one). It might take a while for the dirt to shift, but at least you can have fun riding the bike whilst it gets an internal clean.

Re: Hello!
Welcome and congrats on your recent pass Like the others have said, try some redex to clear out the carbs, if that fails then get the carbs balanced and see how you go. Could be any number of small things with the carbs but it shouldnt be too difficult to get sorted.
